White-water Rafting Adventure on the Menominee River

Experience the Midwest’s most thrilling whitewater rafting adventure on the Menominee River. Led by a professional guide, navigate flat-water sections and tackle the fast-paced Piers Gorge. Fun for all ages and skill levels!

Duration: 3 hours
Highlights
  • N22200 Bomber Rd - The river trip begins along the gorgeous 200-foot cliffs bordering Michigan and Wisconsin. After a scenic flatwater section in which you can play games, swim around, and experience a few smaller rapids, you will pull over above the famous rapids of Piers Gorge. The adrenaline will start pumping as you hear the class IV rapids just downstream. Your group will then embark on your first of two runs through Piers Gorge. After we conquer the rapids for the first time, we’ll take a short hike back to the top of Piers Gorge and run the rapids again. This trip is appropriate for all skill levels, so bring the whole family. Children under 12 must portage the class IV section of the river through Piers Gorge. A parent or guardian must accompany children during the portage. They can enjoy the entertainment as they observe the others in their group running this amazing section of whitewater. Since you go through twice, parents can take turns so that everyone gets a chance to paddle the big water. This is the biggest whitewater in the Midwest. For those looking for an even more extreme trip, you might consider the exclusive Wildman Wild Ride!

A great adventure! - A great adventure! Make no mistake: these rapids deserve your respect. Probably not suitable for the timid or pre-teen crowd, but if you want to step out of your comfort zone, this is for you! Staff was experienced, full of information and prioritized safety. Stay afterwards and see the photos in the bar.

Adrenaline Rush! - Adrenaline rush! We loved white water rafting through Piers Gorge on the Menominee River! Our guide, James, did an awesome job teaching us the necessary skills for a successful ride, and navigating our raft through class III & class IV rapids. He offered great stories, games, and color commentary. I highly recommend white water rafting with Wildman!

Big Water Fun! - We did the Menominee River Rafting and had a blast. Our guide was awesome. Much of this river is a slow float down with no rapids. There are a few exciting sections until you reach the major rapids which is super exhilarating with big whitewater. They bring a second raft along so you can run the best section twice. Highly recommended and loads of fun!

"Terrific Rafting Trip, But Poor Time Zone Clarification" - We got there 1 hour early, not being made aware of the time change by either the message thread or TripAdvisor. I complained to the staff, they're looking into where I saw several "we operate on Eastern time" messages. The rest of the excursion was great! Our guide, Peter, was outstanding, very knowledgeable and patient. He made sure all safety matters were handled and gave us excellent tips for how to deal with anything that came up unexpectedly, as well as basic rafting techniques. The equipment was all very food and Blake, the photographer, made sure I got a helmet with a connection for my GoPro. He even helped me tie it down, in case anything came loose. All the staff are really nice, very enthusiastic, and love their job. We wanted to eat something before a two hour drive back to Munising and the Bombers bar & grill makes great pasties and chicken fingers. I highly recommend Wildman for rafting.

Can't Wait for This Experience Again! - Our crew of 5 adults had a fantastic time! Our guide Marina was nothing less than excellent; she made us feel comfortable, guided us safely and well, and joined our crew as a fast friend. The action photos they took for our group were terrific, letting us bring the excitement home! Our one wish was that the emails preparing us for what we needed to bring and expect ahead of time were clearer, but once we arrived on-site, we were thrilled with the experience as a whole. Oh, and Dan even gave us a dinner recommendation for afterwards – they were caring and fun, through and through!

So worth the drive!! - We drove down from Marquette (roughly 90 min) and was so worth the drive. Pete was our guide and he was awesome. We aren’t spring chickens and I was nervous but WE HAD A BLAST. The river was cool but not freezing but when you’re paddling it feels great. The instruction was top notch and going thru those class 4 rapids (not once but twice) was beyond thrilling heart pounding AND FUN!! A beautiful river too. Def checked this off my bucket list. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Short exciting rapids - Great guide who entertained us during the slow stretch of the river. We ran the short stretch of rapids twice.
