A Fragrant Beginning in Èze

Our journey began with a visit to the Fragonard Perfumery, a place that has long intrigued me due to its historical significance in the perfume industry. The guide at Fragonard was knowledgeable, offering insights into the traditional methods of perfume making that have been preserved through generations. Although there was no pressure to purchase, the allure of the scents was irresistible, and I found myself leaving with a few exquisite bottles.

From there, we made our way to the medieval village of Èze, perched high above the Mediterranean. The village, with its narrow cobblestone streets and ancient stone buildings, seemed to whisper stories of the past. The climb to the top was steep, but the panoramic views of the Côte d’Azur were a reward beyond measure. The Exotic Garden at the summit offered a unique blend of flora, adding to the village’s charm. After a brief exploration, we settled at the Café de Paris for a cappuccino and lemon citral, a moment of indulgence that perfectly encapsulated the essence of Monte Carlo. The prices were indeed reflective of the locale, but the experience was worth every cent.

Though he did not accompany us on foot, his guidance was invaluable, allowing us to explore independently with confidence.
