A must-do in Cyprus. There is more than unites is than divides us. - Fascinating and balanced history and background to the current situation of the UN-controlled buffer zone that is the Green Line across Cyprus. Our guide was thoughtful and knowledgeable and we felt in very safe hands. We saw streets cut in half by the Line, the Venetian fort, abandoned shops overgrown with trees, beautiful abandoned and crumbling homes, UN soldiers on duty and off duty, and bullet-holes in buildings. We saw the vibrancy of life continuing on both sides of the Line. I have visited Berlin and Belfast, both divided cities, thankfully in the past. Nicosia continues to live in division and we were reminded that, as always, there is more that unites humans than divides humans. I can't emphasise how much we got out of this tour. It's a must-do in Cyprus. Note: The photos do not do the tour justice: a lot of the areas you can't take photos in. All the more reason to do the tour and experience what can't be photographed!
