Nicosia ist seit dem 11. Jahrhundert die Hauptstadt Zyperns, sie besitzt ihre eigene interessante Geschichte mit der Stadtmauer aus venezianischer Zeit und der seit 1974 geteilten Altstadt. Schlendern Sie durch die engen Gassen mit ihren überhängenden Balkonen und die restaurierte, turbulente Fußgängerzone, vorbei an den Läden der Handwerker, Tavernen und Kaffeehäusern. Neben dem Erzbischofpalast besichtigen Sie auch die St. Johannes-Kathedrale mit ihren interessanten Fresken aus dem 17. Jahrhundert. Ein „Muss“ ist der Besuch des archäologischen Museums oder Leventis Museum, das die bedeutendste Sammlung der Insel von zypriotischen Schätzen des Altertums zeigt. Anschliessend Freizeit in der Fussgängerzone. Er wird Sie auf einen Spaziergang über die Demarkationslinie in den besetzten Teil der Stadt zur Kirche Agia Sofia (jetzt Selimiye Moschee) und den großen Markt begleiten.
