• Nizwa - Nizwa is a historic city located in the Ad Dakhiliyah region of northern Oman. It is situated on a plain featuring seasonal rivers and lush palm plantations. The city is renowned for Nizwa Fort, a 17th-century castle with a massive cylindrical tower, constructed to protect the city’s strategic position on a key trade route. Adjacent to the fort is Nizwa Souk, a bustling marketplace filled with stalls offering handicrafts and small shops where silversmiths ply their trade.
• Nizwa Fort Oman - Constructed in the 1650s by the second Ya’rubi, Imam Sultan Bin Saif Al Ya’rubi, the fort’s foundations date back to the 12th century. It stands as Oman’s most frequented national monument. Historically, the fort served as the administrative center for the ruling Imams and Walis during both peaceful and tumultuous times. The main structure of the fort, built over an underground stream, took approximately 12 years to complete. It serves as a powerful testament to the town’s importance during challenging periods in Oman’s extensive history, acting as a stronghold against raiders seeking Nizwa’s rich natural resources and its strategic location at the intersection of crucial routes.
• Nizwa Souk - This souk is located near the walls of the renowned Nizwa Fort. Its architecture blends both traditional and modern styles.
• Jabal Shams - Jabal Shams, or Jebel Shams, is a mountain situated in northeastern Oman, north of the town of Al Hamra. It is named Jabal Shams because it is the first location in Oman to witness the sunrise due to its towering peak. It is the highest mountain in the Hajar range and the country.
• Al Hamra - Al Hamra is a 400-year-old town in the Ad Dakhiliyah region of northeastern Oman. This province encompasses several villages, including the mountainside village of Misfat Al Abryeen, with the village of Ghul to the northwest and Bimah to the north-northeast.
