Views were breathtaking at Jebel Shams and tasty halwa/dates in Nizwa Souk. - Simply fabulous! Jebel Shams and Nizwa Souq were the highlights of the trip! Jebel Shams has breathtaking views of the canyon. I believe ~3200m in elevation. You can see very far! The drive up to it was amazing. It felt like I was on another planet.
We arrived in Nizwa on Friday so it was the cattle market and it was great to see the hustle and bustle of Nizwa Souk. In addition, we got to taste some really nice halwa and also a wide variety of dates. Definitely a must for anyone with a sweet tooth. There was a wider variety of goods in the market from pottery to unique antiques on the 1st floor.
It was also interesting to learn about the fort and how they used to defend and the prison within the fort. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour with Amer our guide and Oman Landscape Tours!

Amazing Jebel Shams - Ahmed was our guide for a great day visiting Nizwa Fort, Souq Misfah Al Arbyeen and Jebel Shams. Nizwa Fort and the adjoining castle was historic and interesting. Ahmed walked with us through the souq and gave valuable advice for our purchases. Afterwards we drove up to Jebel Shams. The canyon is amazing. Very enjoyable day

Great Tour - My time in Oman with our guide Khalid was absolutely amazing! Khalid's knowledge and friendly nature made the tour even better. He really knows how to show off the best of Oman and its beautiful sights. I'd definitely recommend Khalid as your guide for a fantastic and fun adventure in Oman!
Pro tip if you can do this tour on a Friday itā€™s even better as you get to witness the goat auction at the Nizwa souk which is definitely a highlight!!

Brilliant day trip - Our guide khalid was brilliant, we learnt a lot about Omani culture and saw some amazing places.
We first stopped at Nizwa town, it wasnā€™t market day (Friday) so it was quiet but very nice. Some lovely market stalls - definitely buy here if you want souvenirs, not mutrah souk in muscat as thatā€™s full of rubbish nothing local. We also saw the dates shop and got to try different ones. We got some amazing pistachio tahini too. Nizwa fort was a nice stop, nothing like other forts/ castles weā€™ve seen and particularly loved the murder holes, very inventive!
Next stop was to the irrigation system where we saw their historic waterways. Little stop on the side of the road but really interesting.
We also saw the amazing jebel akhdar Mountain Viewā€™s and the local villages terraces from the viewpoint.
We stopped for lunch at a buffet restaurant, (layal Al jabal) some good choices but nothing special.
On the way back we drove through a local village and palm tree groves.
Great day out with a great guide. We would absolutely recommend.
