Due to a tendency for clear skies, Abisko is one of the greatest places in the world to see the northern lights. We will provide you with a DSLR camera & lens that is preset to capture the northern lights and quickly go over the basic skills that you will need to find and photograph the magical aurora borealis. Our Ultimate Aurora Photo Adventure offers you THREE different ways to see the northern lights: depending upon the weather and aurora forecast we will hunt for the lights on foot at a nearby teepee, chase the lights in a modern 4×4 van, or ride on a cozy sleigh which is pulled behind a snowmobile to one of our wilderness camps. This evening under the stars offers you a fantastic opportunity to learn about the culture & natural history of Lapland and gives you a chance to experience beauty that can only be found in Abisko National Park. Unforgettable ghostbusters! - The experience more than met our expectations in every way. The hotel chosen, the proposed excursions, the companions, the surroundings... but what we would highlight most (the cherry on the cake) was our guide Miquel Such with whom we were lucky enough to share the most "stellar" moments (and never better said) of this fantastic adventure. A 10 for him for his effort, kindness, sympathy, great knowledge and respect for the country's culture. Also thank Cecilia for our beautiful snowshoe walk and the Belgian guide with whom we toured those fantastic places on a husky between explanations and laughter.

Great tour and really nice guide and driver - Great tour and reasonable price. Joey and Matts were really friendly. We saw a little bit the northern lights with our eyes and more on photos. Joey and Matts helped us settle our phones to take pictures and answered all our questions. They took us in two places to see the northern lights. Joey even took us in photo under the aurora and sent us the pictures the next morning. Thank you ! I recommand this tour.

Amazing experience! - We had an amazing experience! Our guide Joey was passionate about finding the best location to see the lights at their best. We saw awesome displays of aurora at it’s finest from a frozen lake. I would thoroughly recommend this tour.

My Dream Come True. 100/100 AMAZING!! - I would like to describe one of a kind, someone really special I met in this tour, JOEY! Eventually, Joey originally from Malaysia while i’m from Indonesia, which we have similarity in language. Joey was so attentive since the first time we talked and shared with me all of knowledge about the northern lights and brought us for to some places to show us the aurora dancing in the most beautiful sky I've ever seen in my life.. and we got the SOLAR MAXIMUM, in a red colours of aurora. Thanks Joey, I had the most amazing night of my life seeing the aurora. One of my dream wish since i was kid.

The Blue Hole - Our guide was Miquel and from the beginning to the end of the activity he was very kind, friendly, interactive and explained many things to us in a very didactic and easy to understand way. Very helpful. And we are very grateful for the experience!

A fantastic experience with a fantastic guide! - It was a fantastic experience! Even though the conditions were not perfect, our guide, Miquel, did his best to find the place with the most options to see the northern lights and helped us with all technical issues with the camera. While we waited, we were inside a tent, around the fire, and with a cup of hot tea. I would really recommend it! Thank you very much, Miquel!

Aurora by night, activities by day - This is not the first time I have visited Abisko with Lights Over Lapland, but this is the first time I have not done the 4 night package. I had, again, a wonderful time. The guides were amazing: Miquel, Julian and Cecilia all went above and beyond to make sure we made the most of our time and took some great photos. Miquel's knowledge of the Sami people and their culture was a massive enhancement. I was out chasing the lights each night for 5 nights and could see how they vary from background glow to foreground sensation! During the day, there are several bookable activities: I did Snowshoeing with Cecilia, Dogsledding and Snowmobiling (don't forget your driving licence). I went up to the Sky Station via the ski lift (no need to book ahead) and it was all fabulous. The hotel was great with excellent food. Hugely recommended.

Manage your expectation - I have been to multiple Scandinavian aurora tours, this review will be a fair one. 1. Ultimate photo tours Mixed comments. One night they brought us to a frozen lake with a hut under an overcasted sky. Weather didn’t improve and tours ended at the same spot. To be fair I think this is the best they could do under such terrible weather within the Abisko and Kiruna area. But I think people should expect this kind of experience if weather is bad. Another night, cloudy in Abisko but clear in Kiruna. Our guide stopped at the mid point, where it was partially cloudy, and we had some good lights here. There was one point that was out of my expectation. I was asking the guide why didn’t we go to Kiruna, where the weather would have been better. They replied because they were not allowed to, as it’s too far and we had to be back by around 12am. I was like Huh? This wasn’t how they advertised. In their website, they said they will drive up to 90km (distance between abisko and kiruna) and there is not hard time limit to return. I felt like they didn’t do what they advertise on their website, it just felt like a normal aurora tour, nothing ultimate. 2. Abisko Aurora Chase tour Our guide was Joey with this tour. She’s a nice person, very chatty. This night, it was cloudy in abisko and clear in Kiruna. Our tour stopped at the mid point, partially cloudy. There was a small faint green band between the breaks of clouds. Joey was satisfied and started up a bonfire. The sky soon become overcasted but Joey was still happily chatting with people around the bonfire. Tour ended at the same place after 3 hours. There is no chase, no dedication at all. Disappointed at this. Overall, there are more dedicated tours in Norway, where they really drive all night long to find clear skies, but also they are more expensive. So you get what you pay for. Lights over Lapland feels like a normal aurora tour company to me. It’s definitely not a “chase” and nothing is ultimate. Always manage your expectation.
