Overall great, but read re: whale sharks - The staff are fabulous and the boat, while budget, is nice overall. You do have to be comfortable with close sleeping quarters and the onboard bathrooms. Overall the trip is magical. We saw dolphins swimming besides the boat, manta rays jumping out of the water, sunsets, komodo dragons, and whales sharks. The komodo dragon part was a bit of a short walk through the park, I wish we did the longer one. We also stopped with 2 other boats at the same time, so there's about 100 tourists all staring at the same komodo dragons. The whale shark part was a massive draw for me, BUT I did not know that you are guaranteed to see whale sharks because they feed them. It's not really ethical. A group of us were upset by this and decided NOT to swim where they were feeding the whale sharks, we just wanted to swim. However, we didn't figure (stupidly in retrospect) that the whale sharks would swim by to get to the food. Had I known that this was how we'd see whale sharks, I would not have gone on the tour as I don't support it. However, if you're ok with that, the staff is fabulous (again, they really are that great) and the overall experience is amazing. Just bummed I didn't see that part about the whale sharks on any of the reviews I read before I booked.

Awful mass tourism - It would have been such a nice experience if it wasn't for a few things that are just annoying: 1. The communication was awful. Nobody knew before we got on the boat, how many people booked the trip, how many meals were included, how many nights you spent on the boat... It says something different on every booking platform. I booked a tour with max. amount of 10 people on board, in the end we have been 16. 2. There is NO wifi on board, even though they tell you so. 3. You are NOT going to the Manta Point, even though they say so. 4. Yes, snorkeling gear is included, but in an awful quality. It's no fun at all having to rinse the mask every minute. Fins are NOT included. 5. To see the whale sharks, they are fed with fish waste, so you basically swim in a big pool of stinky waste and hope to see a whale shark underneath you. We saw none, since again there are at least 50 people jumping in the water at once which scares every animal off. 6. On Komodo island, we only had 1 hour of time. We were promised to do the "medium walk", but apparantly the Komodo guide was only paid for the "short walk", so after 20 minutes we had to stay on the beach area again and buy souvenirs instead of watching the animals. A waste of time. 7. The motor of the ship is running ALL THE TIME, which means it is always loud and there is always this smell of gasoline all around you. Even during the night when everyone is sleeping. It is absolutely not sustainable. 8. One time we were snorkeling to a spot where the corals are just around half a metre under the surface. Luckily enough all of us refused to enter the water because it would mean stepping on the corals and destroying them. Our crew guide got out, stepped on the corals and pushed the boat back to a point where we had more space to swim. 9. I saw at least 1 rat and loads of ants on board. Even though the food they prepared was excellent, my stomach got very ill after half of the trip... And the ants crossed my sleeping mattress, which was really annoying. 10. We didn't see the sunset on Padar island because the guide said there is a "cloud". Yes, there was a cloud, but still the sunset had to be amazing! We just couldn't enjoy it because we were chased back down the hill again way to early... Apart from that, be aware of loads of small jellyfish in the water that sting you a lot. A wet suit would be very helpful. One girl sleeping next to me was vomiting all night because ahe got seasick Also the way they treat the dragons on the Komodo island is horrible. We saw a local hitting one of the dragons with a stick after he had turned asound to us saying "no photo, no photo". Summing up, the way the environment is treated AND the way the tourists are led through this trip is just horrible. I would not recommend it to anyone.
