Located in Bitung City, about an hour’s drive from Manado City, the capital of North Sulawesi, Tangkoko National Park is a must-visit. One of the unique endemic species to observe is the tarsier. Known locally as tangkasi, the tarsier is the world’s smallest mammal and is native to North Sulawesi. With the scientific name Tarcius Spectrum, the tarsier is a tiny primate about the size of a long-tailed rat. This nocturnal creature is no larger than a human palm, with large, round eyes that shine brightly like lamps.
