A perfect way to view the Northern Lights! - Our fishing adventure was one of a kind! I would definitely recommend this tour. So professional and well planned out. The ice fishing cabin was very nice and much bigger than I expected. Went as a family of five. we all caught fish and had stunning views of the lights. We were provided with a snack of reindeer sausage and our guide even cooked up the fish we caught. Our guide was super knowledgable and had lots of interesting stories to share. It was fun to have an entertaining activity to do in a warm space while staying up to view the lights.

Best time - We did the 2hr snowmobiling, 4 hr aurora night fishing and 1hr dog sledding. We loved each one of these. The entire staff here is friendly from the moment you walk in the door until you leave. They answer all questions and even answer the questions you didn’t know you had. We had a chance to talk with one of the owners as well. She too was wonderful. I highly recommend this for your winter amenities while in Fairbanks. They also offer the proper attire that is so warm hard to believe it was below freezing.

The highlight of the... - The highlight of the trip! Fish were surprisingly active overnight and we caught enough king and silver salmon for everyone. The cabin was warm enough for me to take my outer coat off, and very spacious and clean. Mike was a fantastic guide - very knowledgeable about seemingly everything, was proactive in helping everyone have a great time, and a great chef! And we were lucky enough to see lady Aurora. 10/10

Perfect night under the Aurora! - Wow!! We were so lucky—we went on a gorgeous night with spectacular Northern Lights viewing. Our guide, Mike, was knowledgeable and friendly, and as enthusiastic about the lights as we were. He worked really hard making sure everybody had what they needed, while still keeping the atmosphere relaxed and fun. Rod even stopped by and spent some time with us, which was such a treat! Can’t wait for our next visit to do it all over again!!

Great guides make for a great experience! - Rods made our trip to North Pole area so memorable! We started with a dog sledding trip with Luther, we learned so much about dog mushing in Alaska got to play with his dogs and saw how loved all of his dogs are. It was definitely one of the things we will remember for years to come! Next up was snowmobiling with Victoria. She was so fun, she also did a great job reading everyone in the group to make sure the inexperienced people (myself) were comfortable and the experienced thrill seekers (my husband) were safe yet still having fun. Then we finished our experience with Rods doing an overnight ice fishing and aurora viewing experience with Trevor. This was absolutely incredible! Trevor did a great job taking care of us, making sure we knew what to do to catch fish, including the group that came with some younger kids he was patient and great with them, while he was keeping an eye on his aurora app to send us out when the lights were going off, and keeping us fed, warm with coco and tea, and keeping the fire stoked all night. Despite the late hour, the night flew by, the aurora was out dancing a lot of the night, everyone who was trying to catch fish caught fish and it was a night for the memory books for sure. All in all Rods Alaskan Guide Service made for such an incredible trip, so glad we booked with them. All of their staff back at the office were so friendly and helpful, especially the people who helped us get prepared with warm gear, I really appreciated them looking at my gear then telling me keep this, wear this of ours, I was so comfortable for all of our experiences. The bathrooms were also so clean, and the suiting up area was clean and well organized as well.

Reel in the Memories - We had the best time! We’re from Minnesota and frequently ice fish but we wanted to try a different kind of catch and have nothing but good memories from this experience

Mikey is a great guide! Highly recommend. - This experience was our best Aurora viewing experience over a week staying in Fairbanks! Mikey was an awesome guide and took an excellent picture for us with the Aurora in the background. My husband and I each caught 3 fish but others in the group caught up to 10. Mikey’s a great cook and the reindeer sausage + hot chocolate was a plus! The cabin is nice and toasty to give you plenty of opportunity to stay warm in btw light viewing. 5 hours seems like a long time but it was a perfect amount of time! Highly enjoyable experience at a very fair price in my opinion!!
