Surrounding the island is the Bunaken marine park, a segment of the Bunaken National Park which is celebrated for possessing some of the world’s richest marine biodiversity. This attracts a great number of scuba diving enthusiasts to the island. The Bunaken marine park collectively spans 75,265 hectares and comprises five islands: Manado Tua Island (Manarauw), Bunaken Island, Siladen Island, Mantehage Island along with several minor islands, and Naen Island. Despite its enormous size, the locations suitable for diving are restricted to the beaches encircling these five islands.
