Highlights
  • Gargiaveien 96 - On this trip we combine the excitement of snowmobiling with experiencing the northern lights dancing across the sky. We take you along the old postal road up to the very edge of Finnmarksvidda to a mountain range called Beskardes.

Meet us at our Æverntyr Adventure Store in the city center 5-10 minutes before the start of the Tour. From here we will drive you to Gargia Valley, approx. 25km from Alta.

18:30

We arrive at Gargia Lodge. Here you will meet your guide and get a briefing about today’s trip. You will also receive thermosuits, boots and gloves for the trip.

19:00

After getting dressed you will receive a safety briefing on the snowmobiles. Now we are ready and can start our adventure.

20:00

We will arrive at Beskades. Here we will take a short stop and enjoy the amazing view in all directions before heading back down to Gargia Lodge.

21:15

We arrive back at Gargia Lodge.

22:00

We will drop you off in the city center where we started our trip.

The pinnacle of any journey beyond the arctic circle: witnessing the ethereal aurora borealis sweep across the heavens. This enigma of luminescence has inspired countless folklores and tales throughout time. Narratives ranging from celestial heroes illuminating the firmament to cryptic fire foxes and ominous signals of peril. The arid and consistent environment in Alta offers the optimum circumstances to observe the Aurora Borealis.

In this escapade, we merge the thrill of snowmobile rides with the spectacle of the aurora borealis streaking across the celestial dome. We escort you along the erstwhile mail route to the farthest reaches of Finnmarksvidda to a mountain range named Beskardes.

Sequestered from the city’s illuminations, this excursion affords the perfect setting to view the aurora borealis against a majestic wintry backdrop. If fortune smiles upon us, we may get to witness the breathtaking northern lights flitting across the heaven during our journey, or enjoy the enthralling spectacle of an arctic nocturnal sky.

  • Only the holders of a valid B class drivers license are allowed to drive a snowmobile in Norway. You are required to present your license for verification before taking part on the ride. Guests without a valid driving license are only allowed to be passengers.
  • You will share a snowmobile with another passenger, so each of you will get to drive half of the trip.

Best Experience Ever - What an amazing experience from start to finish. This excursion was the highlight of our 15 day cruise and was booked independently from the Ship’s excursions. We were picked up from the Cruise Terminal, on time, driven to the lodge where we were fully kitted out in Arctic clothing. There was a full induction on how to drive the Snowmobile. At the Top we were treated with a hot local drink, which was amazing as well as samples of the local chocolate. Along the way various points of interest were pointed out. We even experienced heavy snow showers on route. The night ended with a tour of the lodge and. on our way back to the cruise terminal Jakub stopped the Van at a site where we were able to view the Northern Lights. Highly recommend 👍 Would love to stay at the Lodge independently at some point 😊

Amazing Breathtaking experience - Absolutely fantastic! Rodger was so helpful and full of information about the Northern lights. We stopped part way to the lodge when he saw a good clear spot and we actually got a fantastic show of lights! Rodger provided us with hot drinks and helped us with taking good photos. We then continued our journey to the lodge and got onto the snowmobiles for a breathtaking journey to the top of the mountain with another show of the Northern lights on our way back down! He then got us back to our ship in the nick of time to sail off to our next destination. I would 100% recommend doing this!

Fun - The guide Rodger was great. Very professional. Unfortunately no lights, but that's nature I guess. Was one of the best experiences in my life. Highly recommend and would definitely do again

ÆVENTYR SNOWMOBILE- tour by night - Monday evening, 2 people over 60 with motorcycle but no snowmobile driving experience booked a night snowmobile tour - the evening is here, joyful excitement and the meeting with our guide Line from ÆVENTYR... her friendly, competent and precise way of answering our questions made us excited for the tour. The talk about the Northern Lights got us in the mood for the snowmobiles - hunting for them. After getting dressed, we went to the snowmobiles, where Line briefly explained how to handle them. And then the tour started... which Line made a great adventure with her competent guiding.

Ski-doo trip - Excellent host fantastic experience, unfortunately cloudy night, lights didn't come out to play. That was the only disappointment (we know that's luck of the draw) putting that aside good time had by all. Freezing at -20 at top of mountain

Well organized and fantastic experience - Everything was perfect and really well organized. We were the only booked people that day so we ended up getting a private tour which was super fun and quite an adventure. It was cloudy and snowing so no lights but since we saw the lights another day already, this was actually better because these conditions created a very unbelievable and surreal atmosphere high up the mountain. Our guides, Marion and Jakub, were super helpful, very nice, and they told us many interesting facts as well as gave us tips on what else to do around the area.

No lights but still OK. - The equipment was first class the pre-brief was fantastic, Rogers knowledge of the aurora was first class. The trip was fine but just seemed to much like a trail route well used and not really what I expected.

recommended tour under the stars - Impresive tour in the middle of nowhere from Gargia Lodge to Beskades under a cloudless sky full of stars. WONDERFUL. Guide very friendly.
