Adventure being an apt description - We booked this as a shore excursion online, we were met just outside the cruise terminal at 8:00 am. There were 19 of us on this tour today with one guide who was also our driver. His name was Aaron and he quickly established the fact he was going to be a great guide as we made our way to Lichfield Park. During the journey, he gave us some good information about Darwin and the local area while at the same time being very entertaining. The drive to the national park took just over an hour and a half through the bush along lots of pretty much deserted straight roads. We paused a couple of times to view some of the wildlife in particular Wallabies and Wallaroos. There were three stops in the park today and at all of them there was the opportunity to go swimming. So, our first stop was at Wangi Falls which was pretty spectacular even though it had not rained much in the last 7 months. Aaron showed us some of the native trees and explained some information about them, some of which had certain medical uses. I decided not to go in the water at the first one choosing to explore and take a few photos but Nicole made straight for the pool and was soon enjoying a cool dip. I found some impressive-looking webs with spiders and there were also lots of Fruit Bats hanging from the trees. After about an hour we travelled another 22 km to our second stop which went by the name of Buley Rock Hole, this was a series of plunge pools and this time I succumbed and followed Nicole into the water. We enjoyed 45 minutes here and then gathered near the car park where Aaron had prepared a picnic lunch for us all. It also gave us time to dry off which didn’t take long at all. Our next stop was only a short drive and probably my favourite, it was about 4 km downstream and another spectacular place called Florence Falls. There were two options for getting down to the pool and we took the shortest one which involved 100 or so steps down a metal staircase. The other route was flatter but much longer, this is how we got back to the bus afterwards. This was the busiest of the three places and easy to understand why as it was an amazing setting and the water was cool and refreshing on the skin. I quickly took several photos before eventually joining Nicole in the water. Like the first stop, there were lots of Fruit Bats hanging in the trees presumably making the most of the cooler temperature near the water. Once back to the bus it was time to make our way back to Darwin with a couple of stops along the way, one to visit some Magnetic Termite Mounds, one for a refreshing drink at a small town called Bachelor and lastly, a quick one to look at a Bowerbird nest which was absolutely fascinating. Built by the male in order to attract a partner. We were told that if you moved stuff around, it would end up exactly in the same place when the Bowerbird returned. We were back in Darwin before we knew it. An absolutely great day out and many thanks to Aaron for being the perfect guide.

Beautiful Park - 4 Nov 2024 This small group tour was AMAZING!! The National Park is so beautiful, so many different shades of green and variety of trees. The waterfalls and swimming holes were worth the hike to get there, although I do not swim, I enjoyed watching the Falls! AARON our guide was absolutely THE BEST, so knowledgeable about the bush, termites and bush tucker!! He found samples of bush apples, bush cherries, I can't remember what else. Aaron was also very caring and looked after me as I was having heatstroke and not feeling well. The heat was unbearable for me, so much humidity. The lunch he provided was very refreshing, light and enjoyable. The last stop was Batchelor Town a very quirky pub with unusual decor for a cold drink! A great day out, but don't go during or near the wet season unless you love humidity! Thank you Aaron and Litchfield Park Adventures for a great day! From Marilyn - Princess Cruise Ship.

Great Trip with Great Guide - This is a great tour and highly recommended. Aaron was a great driver/guide and was knowledgeable, friendly, and a careful driver. We saw a lot of Litchfield National Park in a short time including swimming in waterfall plunge pools and seeing a lot of wildlife. Well worth your time if in Darwin on a cruise, especially if you want to get a taste of the NT outside of the city. One major plus is we were picked up just outside the cruise terminal so no need to take the expensive shuttle into town.

It was a great tour with an entertaining tour guide - Tour to the Litchfield National Park with the “Litchfield Park Adventures” was memorable. Tour included visits to many major water falls. First to Berry springs which had a beautiful weir like low cascade where we had our first plunge, then to Florence falls and Wangi falls at the later we were able to take our second plunge, thereafter to Buley rock hole area where we finally took another dip on the moderately flowing creek just before it cascaded into a pool which too was a popular plunge pool. En route to Buley Rock holes we were shown the Shady Creek which was a shallow stream calmly flowing under vegetation giving it plenty of shade. With the mid-day heat each of the dips revitalised us and it was real fun to be in cool spring water pools. Tour operator had provided ample number of pool noodles for floating. The coach had chilled drinking water to refill whenever we needed. After our second dip at Wangi falls it was time for the picnic lunch that was laid down by our guide “Aaron” in the picnic area. Picnic lunch comprised of a good spread of food items and we enjoyed the wraps and the fillings very much. At each of the places we visited, Aaron gave a fair description of what we were seeing and at times he stopped the coach on wayside to show us various things. Once it was to show us a flower having an orange yellow colour which was identified as a Grevillea pteridifolia carrying abundant amount of fragrant and sweet nectar, then at the park entrance to show the giant Cathedral Termite Mound and next to it to show us some Turkey Bushes bearing pinkish red blooms with its leaves having a strong smell and supposed to have the potential to repel insects. The Cardinal termite mound was an active mound where the termites were seen repairing a small damage that has occurred to its outer structure. Where the termites were active, it had a gummy substance appearing on the surface which was having a Vanilla like smell. We were shown the Bush Cabbage, the beautiful Pandanus spiralis where the leaves were attached spirally and the Sandpaper tree leaves. It was amazing to see and learn about Magnetic termites and their mounds. We received a lot of information about all the things we were shown and we enjoyed the entire tour being with very jovial, entertaining and extremely caring driver guide “Aaron”.

Best tour of Litchfield - Fabulous trip that takes you to all the best spots on the day. The guide was super knowledgeable and really engaging. Stopped numerous times to teach us little snippets of Bushcraft. I feel I could now last at least 5 minutes if I was ever abandoned there 🤣

Disappointing - A little disappointing as spent most of the day on the bus which was cramped and uncomfortable as you had to store your bags on you and minimal leg room. The Florence water fall was great but only there for about an hour and another hour at another plunge pool. Very rocky in parts and slippery. Had reef shoes in the water but still slippery. I also thought we would have had more time with swimming and/or hiking. Wasn't aware we could purchase food at the Litchfield hotel so brought our own.
