The goal of the Romans to seize control over Britain was always clear. Julius Caesar documented both the plentiful resources of the British Isles, as well as tales of giants and mythical beasts. Though Caesar first reached out to the residents of Britain, a full-blown invasion wouldn’t occur for an additional 90 years. Political instability in Rome led the new emperor Claudius to bring his troops to the British coastline, forever altering the nation. Note that while transportation is necessary from Cawfields to Vindolanda, it’s not included; reach out to us for taxi information if necessary.
