- Fruska Gora Monasteries - Once you feel at home in Belgrade, it’s time to expand your horizons in Serbia! Join us as we explore the northern region, a stunning area showcasing the country’s diversity.
Heading north, you’ll be captivated by the vast, colorful plains of the Vojvodina region. You’ll spot an island that disrupts the simple skyline and flat terrain. This is Fruska Gora mountain, home to 17 hidden gems of the Serbian Orthodox Church. We’ll introduce you to one of these monasteries, which will enchant you with its tranquility and the legacy of the Branković family, key benefactors during Serbia’s difficult times under Turkish siege.
- Sremski Karlovci - After a serene start, get ready for a more dynamic part of the tour. The charming town of Sremski Karlovci awaits, with its historical atmosphere, courteous residents, and unofficial mascot, Raša.
The Patriarchy Palace, Saint Nikola’s Church, and the first Serbian gymnasium established in 1791, all justify Sremski Karlovci’s title as a “museum town.”
One of the highlights of Karlovci is its wine production, and you’ll have the chance to taste a local variety!
- Petrovaradin Fortress - Driving along the right bank of the Danube, you’ll pass a church with details that reflect the interweaving of two religions.
Soon, you’ll be greeted by the imposing walls of the Petrovaradin Fortress. This magnificent structure boasts an impressive underground labyrinth that remains partially unexplored. In addition to the subterranean levels organized in four tiers, there are also seven surface levels.
Built as a stronghold of Austrian defense against Turkish invasion, Petrovaradin Fortress was never conquered. Today, it offers breathtaking views over Novi Sad, the vibrant energy of the prestigious European music festival “Exit,” and the chance to snap a photo with the “drunk clock.”
- Novi Sad - To top off the tour, stroll through the picturesque downtown of Novi Sad. Within a few steps, you’ll see that this city is a melting pot of different nations and ethnic groups, boasting a truly multicultural ambiance. Colorful facades with unique windows, a cannonball embedded in a wall as a reminder, street musicians on every corner, charming passages, and a long list of significant sights will make you fall in love with this European Capital of Culture for 2021.
As a final treat, you’ll have some free time to explore the city at your own pace, shop for souvenirs, or savor the local cuisine influenced by Austria and Hungary.
Afterwards, you’ll be driven back to your accommodation in Belgrade, hopefully fully satisfied with this new experience!
