Discover the Numbat Trail in Paruna Wildlife Sanctuary. As the longest of the three trails in Paruna, it quickly becomes clear why it is so highly regarded. The trail offers a diverse mix of woodland, shrubland, and heathland, winding through steep granite slopes, boardwalks, mysterious marshes, and providing stunning views of Paruna Gorge. The fresh eucalyptus scent accompanies you as you navigate the numerous switchbacks.
Located in the Darling Range, Paruna Sanctuary lies on the western edge of the ancient ‘Yilgarn Block,’ a granite landform over 2.5 billion years old. The picturesque Avon Valley, home to Paruna, was sculpted by the Avon River over millennia. The sanctuary is known for its very steep slopes, multiple streams and creeks, and exposed granite areas.
