Informative, very enjoyable tour - especially meeting and feeding the animals - The farm tour with Sam was very informative and great fun. We visited a variety of sites across the massive farm estate, including the horses, sheep (during lambing season!), cows and Irishman Creek in the 4x4 minibus (which was incredibly comfy). It was incredible to learn about the sheer scale of the farm, and Sam was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about everything. Feeding the lambs and piglets was also a wonderful experience!

An interesting tour of a working High Country farm - We really enjoyed our Lake Tekapo Farm Tour. Maddy was very friendly and explained how the farm worked, which was very interesting because we didn’t know much about merino sheep until then. We got the opportunity to get up close and personal to lots of farm animals, learn about the travel of the early settlers at Irishman Creek Roadman’s Hut, and sample lots of local honey. Plus, we got some spectacular views over the gloriously turquoise-blue Lake Tekapo. The trip was very worthwhile.

Amazing tour of a beautiful ranch the size of Manhattan! - Tour the family farm/ranch with Steve, one of the family owners, along with my wife and 8 month old. We had a great time learning about the sheep and how humanely they are treated, merino wool, the history of the land, and many other beautiful facets of this region. We drank fresh water straight from a stream and got to feed several of the animals including Whiskey the pig! Very personal and informative tour. Very glad we did this tour.

Awesome Farm Tour! - I had made a last minute booking for the farm tour with my group of friends in Lake Tekapo and I glad I did it. Steve is the owner on this tour and he bought us to the farm tour and had the chance to experience the real farming in NZ, by watching and feeding the cows, horses, alpaca, Martha the sheep, and even had the chance to take pictures with Lupin flowers and destroy them :P Never the less, meet Whiskey my favourite pig boar. She is sooooo cute! And the whole experience thanks to Steve. He is incredible tour guide and funny guy who made my day. Thank you Steve, you made me fell in love with Lake Tekapo and will promise will come back soon for star glazing during winter! Definitely recommend on this.

A true Kiwi experience - Being from the urban US, I had no understanding of rural NZ life. The Tekapo Farm Tour was a great way to learn about the Mackenzie basin’s history and the importance and influence of agribusiness on the region. The Balmoral Station is so much more than a sheep farm. This beautiful landscape is also home to deer, cattle, commercial forests and now ecotourism. The two hours flew by aboard a comfortable coach and the scenery was breathtaking. From valley floor to mountain top each stop was amazing. Upon returning to the historic St John homestead guest are invited to feed the sheep, alpaca, ducks, lamb and Whiskey the pig.
