Getaway - It was a great experience, location, and food. We enjoyed the setting with the sunset as a great back drop for photos before food was served. Did not get a flower or tattoo as the lines were very long. Waited 15 minutes and still didn't get one before the show began

Germaine's Luau: Overbooked, overcrowded and uncoordinated! - Strap in! this is a long post! Hawaii is a magical place, where the sun shines bright, is overwhelmingly rich in culture&pride and amazingly choreographed performances depicting said culture. But I'm just here to document my one experience on this one specific day; within a 3hr period. Our tour bus arrived over half an hour before event start. And the venue was already 90% full. So if you want first seat pick, go earlier. This was my first ever luau, coupled more importantly with my parents celebrating their 40th honeymoon anniversary at Germaine's. They did not have enough seating for our appropriate colored wrist bands. they had more seats reserved for guests of travel cruises and not enough for "general admission" (aka us). So they made a makeshift table for us. They didn't call table numbers/colors for food, which meant it was a giant free for all. There's zero monitoring of how many guests per table; each table was said to fit 10-20 people (size dep.); which wasn't the case. TLDR: Hawaii rains happen, but "should" end shortly. Bring a jacket in case it rains. Which of course, it did. They did not have enough ponchos for even a quarter of the crowd. Their response, "we're working on it" which quickly led to "we don't have any more." I saw hoards of adults and teens taking cover under their benches while others hugged palm tree overlays. It was hard seeing my 70+ yo father take cover under a bench. Also, walking in the fine sand is soo refreshing. *Except when i saw I wild cat take a bathroom break and essentially used the venue's sand as a giant litter box. I know this is just my one experience. And my review is but a blip in Germaine's lavish historic tenure. Hard for me to say if this is worth it. I feel you can find free luau performances at the mall more informative, entertaining, and interactive. The Roasted Pig is ceremonial holyness, but with the cost of admission, you can take yourself to a highly rated restaurant instead.
