• 99-1849 Aiea Heights Dr - The ‘Aiea Loop Trail is a 4.8-mile path that starts and finishes in the park. This trail follows the ridge on the west side of Hälawa Valley, offering views from Pearl Harbor (Pu‘uloa) and the Wai‘anae Range to Honolulu and Diamond Head (Lë‘ahi). Norfolk Island pine trees mark the lower end of the trail. As you reach Pu‘u Uau, the high point about halfway along the trail, look for native koa and ‘öhi‘a trees. You might also spot remnants of a B-24 bomber that crashed in 1944. The hike is not strenuous but includes some gradual uphill climbs, a steep switchback, and a stream crossing at the end. The trail can be muddy with sections of exposed tree roots. Allocate about 2.5 to 3 hours for the hike and enjoy the surrounding plants and bird sounds. Bring water and wear sturdy walking shoes. Be prepared for light rain showers. Stay on the designated trail and avoid side paths and shortcuts. The park also features the remnants of Keaiwa Heiau, a medicinal/healing heiau.
