Must Take Excursion to Learn about Honolulu - Lena, our tour guide, was great! She provided, not just tourist information, she provided a lot more about the agriculture and land makeup of Honolulu, which I found to be interesting.

Reommend this tour - We had visited Pearl Harbor and the Memorial the day before on a longer tour, and we enjoyed the second visit with this tour. We heard different volunteers and park guides speak, and were very moved by their commentary and stories. You cannot visit Oahu and not go to the USS Arizona Memorial. Visiting the Dole Plantation we thought was a complete waste of time. We were only given 30 minutes there - and the train around the plantation takes 30 minutes. There was a long line - and not enough time to do it. Very frustrating. All we could do was to visit the gift shop in that amount of time. We wanted to see the plantation - NOT the gift shop. The Polynesian Cultural Center was very enjoyable - but again - NOT ENOUGH TIME HERE. We only got to see half of it. We recommend a whole day tour just here! The students who work the Center are all charming and give a good experience of Polynesian Culture. Our tour guide Johnny Aloha was entertaining. He added in 3 additional stops - at the Macademia Nut Farm, the Nu'uanu Pali Lookout and the Palace in Waikiki on our return journey. These additional stops made up for our disappointment at the Dole Plantation. He also drove the coastal road which was beautiful to see.

Memorable Experience - We wanted our children to experience Pearl Harbor. It is a somber reminder of sacrifices made for our freedom. The tour itself was great! Dole and Polynesian Center were also good.

Fun day - This is a wonderful trip and I know everyone’s preferences are different, but personally I would have liked a longer time at the Dole Plantation (20 minutes wasn't long enough) and less time at the Polynesian Center. But over all a great day.

DON'T BOTHER. LOOK ELSEWHERE. - Pickup was almost an hour late. Driver left additional guests at our location. Had to double back. At another location, couple complained that they had been waiting over 90 minutes. Driver's response was to laugh.

Hot and Pricey. - We were told to meet at 6:20am at a different hotel to pick us up than the one we were staying at. The shuttle came and we went to get on and our names were not on the list to be picked up even though it was through the same touring company. I called and was told that the shuttle was on the way and that they were running late. The other driver from the first shuttle stated that we may be picked up on the other side of the hotel so when I called I asked where we were supposed to meet the driver and was told we would be picked up at the same area the first driver picked up the other couple up at. We waited and saw our driver drive by and go to the other side of the hotel, luckily it wasn’t too far away. The tour guides were amazing and knowledgable giving lots of information and we were able to learn a lot. My only issue was the bus was almost full and we were in the back of the shuttle where the air conditioning was not cooling us down and it was incredibly uncomfortable for most of the tour. I appreciated the additional stops we took to places that were not listed on the tour description. I wasn’t expecting to be taken somewhere to buy lunch because I was under the impression lunch would be provided at the Polynesian Cultural Center. By the time we got to the Polynesian Cultural Center we waited in the hot shuttle for the tickets to be given to us and when we finally got the tickets and headed towards the center we were so hot and uncomfortable we ended up not even going and opted to go to an air conditioned restaurant in the shopping center to cool down, relax and do a little shopping in the area. I am thankful we were able to see Pearl Harbor but the time allotted was a bit too long and there wasn’t enough time at the Dole plantation to really see anything. Both of those experiences I have come to find out are free and what we really were paying for was the Polynesian Culture Center which we didn’t even go to along with the transportation which was not comfortable and left us thinking we should have just ubered to the locations.
