- Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon - Private Surf Lessons are 1 on 1 instruction for ages 4 years of age or older. (Ages 4yo-11yo may choose to tandem surf with the instructor)
- We will meet at the end of the parking lot at the ocean by a small triangular beach. You can choose the best size water shirt and water shoes….

- We will begin by doing a demo near the entrance of the water to help you feel comfortable with safety, paddling, pop ups on the board, and covering any questions you may have.
- This will be followed by an hour of practicing your surfing skills. Our instructors will be helping tow you if you are struggling paddling by yourself. They will also be pushing you on waves and helping you get comfortable with catching the waves.
- Once we paddle back to shore we will get all photos/videos uploaded the same day and send an email by that evening for your lifetime memories!
You are guaranteed to catch a wave even if you ride on your stomach, however most people will catch multiple waves standing during their first beginner lesson.

Meet at the end of the parking lot. There will be a small triangular beach on the ocean. This is a free parking lot. If you are unable to find parking here there is a paid parking lot to the right just before this lot. Call with any concerns. (We will do our best to answer the phone between lessons)

Awesome first surfing lesson - Amazing first surfed waves! I would definitly recommand Jake for his kindness and his pedagogy! Thanks Jake for this first surfing lesson!

Jake is the BEST! Took awesome photos and videos too! - Jake was absolutely amazing! We had the perfect day surfing at the bowls. I texted him earlier telling him that I had trouble paddling and successfully surfing in the past, so I came in with low expectations (of myself). But he coached me so well that I was able to ride probably about 7 waves, 3 of them without any assistance.
In addition, he was able to rent out one of his boards for my husband, so that my hubby could join us in the water while I’m doing my private lesson.
I couldn’t recommend him enough - he’s definitely one of the best beginner-friendly surf coaches around and is full of encouragement and positivity.

Amazing first experience - Best experience ever! My 16yr old daughter and friend had a blast. Jake is a great instructor. The video and pics were amazing. My daughter and her friend can’t stop talking about it.

HIGHLY recommend for families!! - Jake was amazing!! on time! Great energy! My kids absolutely loved him. He had so much patience with my 9 yro and my 13 year old. The private was a must because my kids had never surfed before…the video and pictures were high quality. We highly recommend his lesson. We will definitely return for another lesson! Thank for the memories Jake!

Great surfing - Jake and Sarah are great! My 11 year old daughter and I surfed with Jake for a week at different spots and had a great time! Highly recommended! 🏄♀️🏄♀️🙏🏻🙏🏻🌊🌊

Great family fun! Even for young kids! - We had a great time surfing with Jake! We chose him because of the great reviews, the ability to take younger surfers, and the option for photos/videos. We appreciated Jake’s easy going happy demeanor and flexibility. We initially purchased the one on one then added two adults day of. He was able to watch and course correct as the lesson went on to help improve our surfing. His videos and photos were very cute, and we are glad we booked with the option for these memories.

Experience the pace of the wave, you will never forget it - I always had a salt water trauma since I was a child. So even I love to swim, that only applies to a swimming pool.
However I decided to take a challenge and overcome the trauma by going for a such extreme water sport on the ocean. I must admit that it was frightening when I began to paddle toward the waves and I was thinking ‘what on earth am I doing here?’ But this will go away when you paddle for few minutes. I was so shattered so that Jake had to push me and the board all the time(which I felt really bad :( ).
I manage to stand up in one wave and I think this was such an excellent achievement for me and I couldn’t have done this without Jake’s teaching and guidance.
Thank you for such an unforgettable experience and I will definitely practice more when I go back home.

Awesome experience! - Jake is an outstanding surf instructor! His friendly and attentive nature ensures you always feel safe in the water. He’s skilled at teaching everyone, from beginners to intermediate surfers. Plus, he goes the extra mile to capture incredible clips of your surfing sessions. I highly recommend this surf school for a fantastic and memorable experience!
