The day usually starts on the soft sands of Waikiki Beach, where the instructor gives a brief overview of surfing fundamentals. This includes learning how to paddle, balance on the board, and execute the pop-up motion to stand. Safety tips and wave-sharing etiquette are also discussed.

Once ready, participants will enter the warm, crystal-clear waters of Waikiki. The gentle, rolling waves make it a perfect spot for beginners to catch their first wave. The instructor often assists by guiding the surfboard and offering real-time coaching to help students ride the wave.

After a few rides you will feel a wonderful sense of accomplishment. The views back towards Kailua Bay, Twin Islands , and the Koolau Mountains are only seen from standing on Flat Island . If you’re lucky you will see the sea turtles out in the bay.
