Captain Garrett and First... - Captain Garrett and First Mate Holly were amazing! We were met promptly at the Harbor Gate, led to the speedy boat and after a short orientation, we got on our way (It was my family of four plus a young couple). It was a less than 10 minute ride to where the turtles were- just off of Waikiki. We saw close to 15 turtles! And the colorful fish were incredible and plentiful! We even saw an octopus, an eel and a flying fish!
My 16 year old son was terrified to get in the water but Captain Garrett made him so at ease, gave him a float belt and he ended up staying out the entire time and loving it. Holly was in the water with us to guide us around, point out the fish around us and bring us to the turtles. She is extremely knowledgeable.
We snorkeled at Hanauma Bay the day before and it didn't hold a candle to this trip. We loved this tour! Thank you for a wonderful memory : )
Side note: I, like my son, was tentative so I used the big blue noodle. Don't. It doesn't allow you to lower your head to see the turtle's bodies who have come to the surface and I felt like was I was fighting against the current the whole time. Use the yellow floating belt instead if you must use one. You really don't need one though.

Best Way to Conclude our Hawaiian Vacation - The 90-minute turtle snorkel tour with Captain Max Boat Tours is an absolute must-do experience in Oahu! From start to finish, it was perfect in every way. Santiago and Eric were welcoming, knowledgeable, and passionate about marine life, making the entire experience unforgettable.
The boat was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. Santiago provided a thorough briefing on snorkeling and what to expect, which was great for both beginners and experienced snorkelers.
Once we got into the water, it was magical. The clarity of the ocean was stunning, and we were surrounded by colorful fish, coral reefs, and, of course, the star of the show—sea turtles! Santiago guided us to the best spots to see these majestic creatures up close while respecting their natural habitat. Watching them glide through the water was truly mesmerizing. As a bonus, Santiago free dove and took incredible underwater pictures of our experience.
This tour is the perfect mix of adventure, education, and relaxation. If you’re visiting Oahu, don’t miss this chance to experience Hawaii’s underwater beauty with such a fantastic team. Thank you for an unforgettable day! Highly recommended!

Amazing trip!! - This was the first time we took our kids snorkeling (ages 8, 13 and 16). We had such a wonderful day! Jordan and Devon were kind and informative. Our daughter was scared to get in water at first but they were patient and encouraging. She got in and was so happy. It was so nice to be with a small group and get more attention vs the huge groups in the canyon. I highly recommend this to all!!!

Early start to beat the crowds - turtles, cool fish, humpback whales! - We loved the small boat size and the early start - we got to the snorkeling area before hordes of other boats arrived. We saw turtles and lots of cool fish, and our captain (Devin?) and guide (Santiago) were excellent. To top it off we did a small detour on the way back to check out two humpback whales! A super start to our day.

Best snorkeling experience I’ve ever had!! - Loved taking the speedboat out, as we got to spend most of our time snorkeling. We started at 7 so we got to see the sunrise from the ocean which was beautiful. Snorkeling we saw turtles, lots of fishes, even stingrays! On our way back we saw dolphines so the crew slowed down and took a detour to let us come closer. Loved how intimate the experience was, felt like the real deal. Truly recommend!! 10/10!!

Best bet for snorkeling near Waikiki! - Super fun and easy trip with Devin and Sebastian. Beautiful day with sea turtles, thousands of fish and even a humpback whale sighting.
Much more fun and easy on the smaller boat instead of snorkeling with 50 other people. Highly recommend!

Excellent Experience - Loved the intimate experience. We had six individuals, a guide, and a boat captain. This meant we were close enough to hear information that was shared before and during the snorkeling. Guide was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of interesting information I never knew - and I thought I knew a lot! I've snorkled from Southeast Asia to the Bahamas, Mexico, and Southern Carribean. And it wasnt the first time I've seen turtles either. This was easily my favorite of all trips not just because we saw several turtles but actually learned about them. Of course the other marine life was pretty spectacular, too! Definitely worth the extra money. Oh - and the gear was high quality and well-maintained unlike other excursions I've done. Another final note, the crew did not resort to feeding turtles food just so we could see them.

Great experience overall! - Overall, we had a great experience! Sophia was our guide, she was super sweet and professional. My partner and I are both beginner swimmers, and this was actually my partner’s first time snorkeling. Sophia was amazing—she guided us hand in hand and made sure we felt confident and safe when we ventured out into the middle of the sea.
About halfway through the tour, I started feeling motion sick from the swells and had to head back to the boat. But before that, we got to see 3–4 turtles and some beautiful fish groups, which made it worth it. I’d love to return if I visit Honolulu again.
Pro tip: If you get motion or seasick easily, I’d recommend taking some pills ahead of time for a better experience.
