Frank L. Wright house and studio tour - My friend and I loved this house/studio tour. Our guide was Karl (I think that was his name). Karl gave such an in-depth tour of the house and studio. I learned a lot about Wright's life and his role as architect, husband, and father. What a remarkable house! Wright was truly a genius and innovator, and it is no wonder people still consider him one of the best architects ever. Oak Park is lovely and I intend to return on my next trip to Chicago! Thank you, Margaret K in NYC

History and Brilliance - I’ve been to the studio and home before. There have been interesting addition especially furniture and artifacts. The home is well preserved and the docent was good. It was fun to share with my son who didn’t know much about FLW. We visited home in the neighborhood and the UU Temple.

Great suburban outing in Chicago area. So interesting! - This was an outstanding experience! Family was in-town, so we headed out to Oak Park to tour the home and studio after buying tickets for the tour online that morning. There was plenty of parking around the studio. Prior to our tour's start, we enjoyed the courtyard and the neat gift shop, which features a lot of products inspired by Wright's designs. We then went on a tour. It features both the home, where Wright and his family lived, and the (attached) studio. It was about an hour long. Our guide was exceptional -- knowledgeable, funny, a good speaker, and full of interesting facts and information. He also answered a lot of questions with ease. Throughout the tour, I learned even more about Wright's style, his life (including his family), and his career. The interior spaces were quite cool. Of particular note was the children's play room in the home and the main drawing area in the studio. Within walking distance of the home and studio, there are several other Wright-designed homes; you can buy a helpful map in the gift shop. And, even beyond the Wright homes, the area is full of old Victorians, which are beautiful in their own right. A fantastic afternoon outing. Highly recommended!

For those who admire Frank Lloyd Wright's work, a must see. - For those who want to see where he worked, lived, and his creative mind in his design theories, etc. this is not to be missed, as well as the houses very nearby that he also designed. The guide we had was wonderful with great anecdotes and history facts.

Great architecture, tour not so great - The studio tour might be better than my rating, but we had some difficulty driving there and were 15 minutes late for our purchased tour. We requested to be moved to the next tour, which we saw only had 6-7 people in it (we saw them touring the house) but they refused to allow us, saying we would have to pay again. They took us to meet the group, we missed the first 15 minutes, which is most of the downstairs home. The rest of the tour was ok, but our guide was also just ok, not adding much and not answering all questions. The self-guided tour of the other houses in Oak Park is definitely not worth the price, the paper guide is not useful, and we ended up using a couple of different online guides, it only took us a minute to find something better in Google. The two stars belong to Frank Lloyd Wright, not to the organization.

Nice site- terribly rude staff - Amazing site- horribly rude staff. Despite arriving 3 minutes after opening, took 20 minutes to check in with our Go Chicago passes, and then wait 1:20 for the next tour. Not worth it. The tour is an hour long. But be prepared to be talked to like you were a disruptive child on you first trip to any museum. Seriously, the group of octogenarians that run this tour lectured 16 grown adults about cell phone usage, not touching anything, not lingering in a room. If the tour guy moved on, you had to be there. They spent the entire tour chastising the group about lingering to take pictures. And then, the lady who lectured at us about not using our cell phones so as not to disrupt others interrupts our tour group to argue loudly with a coworker about who was responsible for the next tour group. Everyone there was horribly rude and slow. I cannot emphasize this enough. These people clearly hate their jobs!!
