Templo de San Matias Jalatlaco - JALATLACO: Marigold Flower Displays:
Marigolds, known as cempasúchil, play a central role in the decorations. The vibrant orange and yellow flowers are used to create elaborate displays and pathways. The marigold petals are carefully arranged to form intricate designs and patterns, leading the spirits of the departed to their altars.
Community Participation and Offerings:
The community comes together to create and display these decorations. Families and neighbors collaborate to design and set up the altars and street displays. The offerings on the altars often include traditional foods, drinks, and other items that the deceased enjoyed in their lives.
Papel Picado and Skull Motifs finely cut paper banners, are a hallmark of Mexican celebrations.
