Highly recommend - We had a great experience. Our guide Diego was very knowledgable and passionate about Oaxaca culture and history. We enjoyed the swim under the waterfall after the hike in beautifully countryside.

A wonderful, authentic experience! - Highly recommend this amazing experience and Coyote Aventuras in general! Everything on this tour was taken care of and perfectly planned to provide the most authentic experience. Loved coming close to the local communities and exploring the beautiful nature through the trails that no other tour will take you on. The food on the tour was great. We got traditional breakfast and lunch prepared by the locals at the places we visited. Coyote Aventuras also provided snacks/fruit/beverages during the trip, which was delicious and just what we needed! We also had a wonderful guide who was knowledgeable about the places we visited, the culture, and the environment. If you want an authentic experience that also contributes to supporting local communities and preserving the environment you should definitely go on a tour with Coyote Aventuras!

Fantastic day including culture and nature - Must do experience in Oaxaca! Our tour guide Santiago was very knowledgeable and helpful. He took the time to get to know everyone and was happy to go at the groups own pace. The tour is organised well and sensitive to local customs and environmental needs. The trip took us to the best view points to see the petrified waterfall and to some amazing swimming spots. The hike is mostly downhill but does include two uphills at the end which in the heat are a challenge. If you find the first walk difficult seriously consider the option of taking the mini bus to the next stop. The textile village is a great contrast to the main city of Oaxaca and gives a taste of local life. The home cooked food and textile demonstration was a highlight.

Hierve el Agua Highly Recommend! - Our hike to Hierve el Agua was easily a highlight of our trip to Oaxaca. In addition to our incredibly knowledgable guide Paola, Coyote Aventuras has built relationships with local communities that have lived there for generations, granting their groups access to stories, hiking trails and an additional swimming area not always available to visitors. You leave with a sense of the people and culture behind the place. Practically, Coyote Aventuras also plans snacks, beverages, breakfast and lunch into the trip so you feel well taken care of. Cannot recommend enough.

Incredible Day of Adventures! - We had the most wonderful adventure hiking and exploring local textiles with Santiago and Jorge Luis! Both meals were delicious and allowed us to have a traditional Oaxacan breakfast and lunch! There was lots of snacks provided in addition to the two large meals. At each stop there was also a local guide who provided lots of information and Santiago was able to help us translate. The company has clearly worked to build relationships with different individuals in the community to provide them business and also were very kind in making sure to provide snacks for the local guides in addition to us. We hiked a total of 10 km and had the opportunity to swim in two locations. Each guide took the time to answer lots of our questions. We would highly recommend Coyote adventures to anyone traveling to Oaxaca and hopefully can participate in another tour during our next trip!

Highlight of our trip - Our day in Valles Centrales was wonderful! The others in our group canceled, so we essentially had a private tour. Santiago was a fantastic tour guide - friendly, knowledgeable, and able to tailor the experience to our group. Our driver Jorge Luis was excellent as well. Would highly recommend this tour. We started with a shorter (2 km) hike around Hierve el Agua, followed by time relaxing in their pools. We then hiked 8 km to La Salinas to a cascade with a pool. This hike was described as “easy” - while not challenging, we would recommend hiking boots over sneakers. Sunscreen and water essential. Ending the visit with Josefina and her family was lovely. The food was delicious and their rugs and woven goods were beautiful. You have the option of purchasing items there. Coyote Aventuras took great care of us and provided snacks, water, a first aid kit, and more. If you go on this trip, be sure to bring a change of clothes after the hike and cash to tip the local guides and Josefina’s family for your lunch.

Highlight trip of Oaxaca - A truly amazing experience. Our guide Paula was fantastic, and added so much to the experience with her knowledge, personality, and wonderful spirit. Everything about the trip was special, from the sunrise drive through the mountains, the breakfast in a traditional village home courtyard, learning about the self-governing villages, walking in the desert landscape learning about the different plants, and the amazingly special petrified waterfall itself. The hike was very hot, but the swimming at the end amazing. As the weaving village Teotitlan, the women who showed us the weaving process was clearly passionate about her work and it felt like she geniunely enjoyed showing us -- rather than some of the other villages where it felt more pro-forma. I will definitely do another trip with them.

Amazing sightseeing and learning - Amazing hike at Hierve el agua in Oaxaca, combined with a great excursion to Teotitlan to see traditionally made textiles. The guide Santiago was really knowledgeable and amenable to questions, and really created a respectful dialogue with the two local guides. It was a great day of sightseeing as well as learning about the history and flora of the area. It was a moderately difficult hike but mostly downhill and times to take breaks and swim

Fun but Challenging! - Santiago was an amazing tour guide! This tour was great, but there are some things that travelers should know before signing on. This tour was not "intermediate" in terms of ability. I would say this is an "advanced" experience. I am in good shape, exercise regularly, and these hikes were VERY difficult. My 9 year old only managed to complete the first hike around Hierve el Agua (2 km straight down and straight up). The second hike (8 km) was much harder than the first, and not something my child could do. It's steep downhill on very loose rock -- lots of slipping, tripping and hard on the knees. You need to be in very good shape for these hikes. Also, the "hot springs" that were actually ice cold. There is not much time to relax by the water -- 45 minutes including time to dress and undress. Las Salinas, the waterfall and canyon, was really beautiful and a highlight of the day. Lunch is served around 3:30-4:00 pm, so one should bear that in mind when making dinner reservations. (You get a big breakfast around 7 am, then snacks of trail mix and fruit around 11 am, then more snacks after the hike around 1 pm.) We did not get back to Oaxaca until 6:30 pm. Overall, a great experience, but it was a long day of a lot of physical exertion.
