Highlights
  • Zona Arqueologica de Mitla - HIERVE EL AGUA – Spanish for “the water boils.” It is believed to have been a sacred place for the ancient Zapotec. The site features two rock cliffs, one descending twelve meters and the other thirty meters, both resembling waterfalls. These formations are created by fresh water springs, whose water is oversaturated with calcium carbonate and other minerals. There is a natural platform with four springs and pools where visitors can swim in these thermal waters.
  • Teotitlan del Valle - TEOTITLAN DEL VALLE - Wool rugs in this town are crafted on domestic looms, using natural dyes like indigo, cochineal, and stone moss for their pigmentation.
  • Hierve el Agua - MEZCAL - We visit the Mezcal factory where you will see the process of making this flavorful drink and also have the opportunity to try different kinds of Mezcal creams.
  • El Rey de Matatlan - (we visit Mitla only from Wednesday to Sunday) MITLA - The name Mitla is derived from the Nahuatl name Mictlán, which means the place of the dead or underworld.
  • Donají - The guide gives you time to eat.
  • Santa Maria del Tule - .

Absolute Must Do in Oaxaca - This was a truly fantastic day. Everything we did was so fun and beautiful and the guide organized it very carefully so that we got to each location before it got busy. He was incredibly knowledgeable and seamlessly presented all the information and answered all our questions in both English and Spanish. You cannot come to Oaxaca without having this experience. So many amazing things all in one perfect day. And the drive through the countryside was gorgeous.

Wonderful time, very informative, Great time! - We had a great time with Miguel, was a full day of a lot of the sites we wanted to see. Started with El Tule, then the Weaving place, The Zapotec Ruins in Mitla, stopped for 1 hour lunch, the Hierve El Agua.

A Perfect Full-Day Oaxaca Experience - The meet up hotel is easy to find downtown. We left on time. The group was small and that made it more fun. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the locations and a really nice guy. We spent plenty of time at all the locations to enjoy what we were seeing. Absolutely loved each destination. 10/10 would highly recommend. Bring your swimsuit!

A complete day - This is the same as the other tour except that the entrance fees are included in this one. The day could have gone better had the guide exerted more effort. We could barely hear him, most of the time he was just mumbling to himself.

Fun and comprehensive tour, not too touristy - The tour was well managed and organized— stops were not too long nor too short. We were told we’d be back by 7pm but thankfully we were back by 5:30pm. I really liked Mitla and Teotitlan. Buy souvenirs and ice cream/juice at Mitla, the prices are pretty good. For Hierve el Agua, it’s easy to get lost and accidentally hike too far, I think it would’ve been better if the guide joined us all the way in. It’s very very hot this time of year so make sure you have water! Food at the buffet restaurant was around MXN198 and it tasted okay, but there are definitey better Mexican meals around.
