Tio's tours mountain biking - I had a blast biking with tio's tours crew. Good selection of trails and last one was very long and steep! They had all the necessary tools to fix small issues along the way which was great! I recommend riding with this guys

Some very challenging and rewarding biking, with some very talented riders, allowing me to learn some new skills. COYOTE ROCKS - Coyote Adventures is the best way to do MTB in Oaxaca, he has an amazing and talented team that adapts to all levels. We have been doing this same trip for the last 10 years and Coyote is by far the best option. Combining his MTB skills with his passion for people and nature makes an amazing experience. Make sure to ride 204 along with his team… the best single trail I have ever done!

Great mountain biking trip! - We had an excellent experience riding in Oaxaca with Carlos, Tarek and the rest of their team. The trails there are incredible. It’s amazing riding through so many different environments in one descent: from cloud forests with loamy PNW hero dirt, to techy desert trails with fun rock features. Some of the descents are up to 45min long! The guides were very knowledgeable and cared a lot about us having a great time. They were really helpful pointing out features, how to ride them, what to look out for, etc. They also tailored the trails well to the group. I also loved learning about the local community and Oaxacan culture as Carlos was very knowledgeable and passionate about this. We had a blast and will definitely be back to ride with our new friends at Coyote Adventuras!

Must Do Activity if Visiting Oaxaca - This was a 10/10 trip and well worth the money. I came to Oaxaca having no idea that mountain biking was even an option and thankfully came across these guys (have an incredible reputation in town). Given my lack of preparedness, they went above and beyond in providing me everything I needed (protective gear, gloves, etc.). The trip started out by traveling about 45 min - 1 hr from town to a breakfast spot in the middle of nowhere in the mountains. It was a super authentic experience, we had hot chocolate and breakfast tacos to warm up and start the day. Next, we ascended up the mountain, to begin the biking. The trails were unreal, absolutely blew my expectations out of the water. There was so much variety and my guide did a great job of guiding me through any sketchy areas and pointing me towards the must-hit features to make sure I didn't miss anything. The whole process ran super tight, our driver was always at the bottom of each trail ready for us when we ended. The team provided snacks, electrolyte drinks, and water. Another great thing to note is that the guide totally picked up on my level of riding (intermediate) and rode to that level and chose our trails / lines based on that. I never felt super overwhelmed by some insane route that was way out of my league and on the other hand definitely never felt bored by something too easy. After a great day of biking, we had lunch at another super homey restaurant in the mountains. Honestly might have been the best meal I've had in Oaxaca thus far (like 3 courses) and like breakfast was just included in the initial cost. We then drove back to Oaxaca after a great meal and got back around 5 PM. I would recommend this to absolutely anyone and everyone that enjoys the outdoors. The value here is well worth the cost. Beware--do not book a tour with this company, they will cancel last minute! - We are avid mountain bikers from Colorado and wanted to do a mountain bike tour in the Ixtepeji area of Oaxaca to celebrate my wife’s 50thbirthday. We contacted Carlos Coyote in early September and he created a detailed private biking itinerary for us involving 2 nights/3 days of riding in the Sierra Norte with some cultural tours added in, and we paid in full for the trip, over $1600 USD. We started to get concerned when we sent a follow-up message at the beginning of November (after the holiday) and did not get a response. We simply wanted to confirm our trip and ask if we should bring spd pedals, etc. Finally, after many unanswered messages, some other employee replied to our Whatsapp messages with a one-line response confirming that everything was set for our upcoming bike trip. Putting our concerns aside, we were looking forward to the trip, packed all of our bike gear (minus bikes) and made our way to Oaxaca. Last night, 3 days before our mountain bike tour was set to begin, we received a message from Carlos saying that he no longer can do the trip due to “scheduling issues”. After we clearly expressed our frustration, his excuse soon morphed into “your guide has a medical issue”. He then suggested changing the trip to 2 days of hiking, 1 day of mountain biking. Clearly this was not what we wanted to do, so we demanded a refund, which we finally received, but then we were left in the city with all of our bike gear (thank goodness we hadn’t brought our bikes), no bike tour and had to scramble last-minute for lodging over a busy weekend. Not to mention this was supposed to be a celebratory event. My wife and I are both business owners, and you simply to do not let something like this happen. Even if there truly was an unfortunate emergency with the guide, you find someone to replace this person given that your customers have travelled quite far. We asked Carlos why he couldn’t step in to guide in this situation, and he simply said he just couldn’t because he had some family things to do. He expressed very little understanding or remorse. Meanwhile, yesterday evening my husband saw a Coyote Aventuras van parked downtown with tons of bikes on top--so clearly he had bigger fish to fry—and we suspect that the bikes he had promised us for the tour were not available, leading to the cancellation. Apparently this is a pattern with him—claiming he has bikes when he does not. Luckily another (real) mountain bike company in town was able to help us out and organize a 1-day mountain bike tour last-minute. We had considered booking with them in the first place and clearly should have done so. When we went to this shop this morning and started to explain our situation, even before we mentioned the company the owner said immediately, “oh you must have booked with Coyote Aventuras”. So clearly this is a pattern, and other bikers have also been left high and dry. Apparently he also has a tendency to claim that he has bikes available to rent, when in actuality he does not. I write this hoping it will spare other bikers the frustration we just experienced with this unethical company. Why he has all 5 star reviews is a great mystery. What a phony website! This guy should be out of business soon with this type of business ethos.
