Oaxaca - Welcome to Oaxaca!
We offer private tours in comfortable and clean vehicles just for you. Tailor your excursion to your preferences, spend as much time as you like at each stop, and engage with artisans and native families for intimate experiences. Avoid the typical tours that only take you to roadside stops with limited time!
Here is a list of places we can visit. Start customizing your tour now! - Zona Arqueologica de Monte Alban - Enjoy a guided tour of Oaxaca’s most significant archaeological site. Explore the best spots, learn about the culture and lifestyle of our ancestors, and take your time to walk around this UNESCO site and capture beautiful photos.
- Hierve el Agua - One of only two petrified waterfalls in the world, located in Pamukkale, Turkey, and Oaxaca, Mexico! Hike with a native guide to see the petrification formed over the years. This town follows traditional rights, so local guides are required, and they work for volunteer tips. We recommend visiting early in the morning to enjoy the stunning views, take amazing pictures, and relax in the natural pools without crowds. Group tours usually arrive by 11:00 am.
- Zona Arqueologica de Mitla - After Monte Alban was abandoned, Mitla became the most important city in Oaxaca’s Central Valley due to its economic, political, and military power. Take a guided tour through its beautiful architecture and intricate wall decorations. Mitla was designed to withstand earthquakes.
- San Martin Tilcajete - Visit a family workshop led by natives to experience Oaxacan art. These colorful and fantastical wooden animals hold mysticism. Witness the entire process from carving to painting with beautiful Zapotec symbols. Discover your protector or spiritual animal!
- Tule Tree - See the world’s widest and one of the oldest trees, located in the charming and clean town of Tule with a beautiful garden.
- Teotitlan del Valle - Visit a small cooperative of native weavers making wool rugs. Enjoy a demonstration of natural dyes by a Zapotec family. Many workshops here do not use natural dyes, so it’s important to preserve the culture, tradition, and environment. Learn about the lifestyle and worldview of indigenous families.
- San Bartolo - Experience the creation of decorative black pottery. See how artisans use pre-Hispanic lathes to make classic, modern, and master pieces. All decorations and shine are done by hand! The artisans are proud of their work, so feel free to ask questions and take photos.
- Cuevas Prehistoricas de Mitla - Discover the site where the first corn seeds in the Americas were found. Hike a mountain to visit a complex of five pre-Hispanic caves with red, white, and black petroglyphs depicting hands, hunting scenes, stars, the sun, spirals, corncobs, and more. Follow community rules and explore with a native guide. A lot of history!

Teotitlan del Valle - BEEWAX CANDLES
An almost forgotten tradition in this town. These organic candles were made for special celebrations like weddings, town festivals, and Catholic masses. They are still made artisanally using beeswax for decorative candles shaped like flowers, cacti, sculptures, and more. - Mercado Tlacolula - Market day is a long-standing tradition in Oaxaca. People from various towns and regions come here to buy groceries or sell local products like fresh fruit, vegetables, flowers, souvenirs, traditional clothes, food, and even live animals! Market days offer a glimpse into the real life of a town. We especially recommend trying the meat hall and goat or sheep barbacoa. ONLY ON SUNDAYS.
- Santo Tomás Jalieza - A small village with an old tradition. Visit a group of women working with backstrap looms in their patios. Unlike other textiles, these are more utilitarian, making table runners, purses, placemats, coasters, shoulder bags, bracelets, belts, and straps for guitars, sunglasses, or cameras.
- Ocotlan de Morelos - Market day is a long-standing tradition in Oaxaca. People from various towns and regions come here to buy groceries or sell local products like fresh fruit, vegetables, flowers, souvenirs, traditional clothes, food, and even live animals! Market days offer a glimpse into the real life of a town. We especially recommend trying traditional moles at a market stand. ONLY ON FRIDAYS.
- Santa Catarina Minas - A very small town using ancestral mezcal processes with clay pots for distillation, giving the mezcal a unique and authentic taste. Mezcal tasting not included.
- Santiago Matatlan - As the saying goes, “Mezcal doesn’t get you drunk, it makes you magical.” The best way to experience it is by visiting a distillery, learning about the process, different types of agave plants, and most importantly, tasting them all! Discover large agave fields and traditional distilleries on the east side of Oaxaca city.
