- Zimmer Road - Participants will utilize a coal-fired forge, treadle hammer, tongs, cross peen hammer, and anvil, along with a 2”X72” belt grinder. The project involves hand-forging a railroad spike into a stunning and practical knife. The process begins by igniting the coal forge and shaping the handle with the treadle hammer. The handle will be twisted, and the blade will be drawn out. Once the handle and blade are formed, the blade will be “quenched” to harden it. Finally, the grinder will be used to sharpen the finished Railroad Spike Knife.
