Additional Information

You’ll acquire new culinary skills that can be easily implemented at home. I had the privilege of growing up learning from the best cooks, my mother and grandmother. Let’s communicate through food. I’ll guide you on how to prepare ingredients at home. In olden days, people made do with limited ingredients and maximized their culinary skills to make the best meals possible. The crux of Macedonian cuisine lies in creating delicious dishes from a handful of ingredients, challenging you to use your creativity to make the tastiest dish from what you have.

Food, Culture, and Tradition - The day with Sonja and her family was one of the most beautiful experiences of my travels. We were embraced by tradition and a love for Macedonian cooking. The surrounding area, where the class takes place, is a relaxing setting outside the city. The pick up from Ohrid city was well orchestrated and made for an easy trip. The food, the food, well, it was delicious and true Macedonian cooking, just like Baba made it. We were sent home with treats as we could not eat all the food we cooked. I highly recommend this experience for more than a delicious meal, a peek into the soul of this amazing country.

A great day cooking in Ohrid - My partner and I had such a great day with Sonya. As the Rakija flowed, we learned loads about the local food and culture. We cooking in her summer cottage outside town over looking her garden. Both Sonja and her husband Zoran, who turned up later to eat with us, spoke great English and were absolutely charming. Would highly recommend

A most delightful experience - This was a joyful afternnon from start to finish. I was picked up & dropped off no problem from my holiday apartment. I then spent a joyful afternoon with Sonja, her Mum & Mum in law, both lovely ladies, & another tourist who was also very charming & interesting being from another continent. We went to Sonja's weekend house which is surrounded by their cherry & hazel orchards & vegetable garden. Throughout the afternoon we sampled their produce & baking & learnt in a hands on fun way to make three totally different Macedonian dishes. We also chatted about Macedonian customs & life & when the food was all ready we all sat & ate what we had made plus a few more goodies & it was wonderful. The afternoon at Sonja's was soul food as well as tummy food. This afternoon, now back at home, I am going to make one of the dishes. If you are in Ohrid & enjoy cooking & meeting people from other cultures you must do this.

Amazing authentic experience - We had the best time at the Ohrid cooking class and remains one of the highlights of our trip in 6 weeks of travel across Europe. We were picked up by Sonja and her mum and taken to their home where we spent hours cooking, learning, chatting, eating and drinking. We made 3 Macedonian dishes for lunch and 1 dessert, they were simple, delicious and Sonja made it very easy to follow along.

Fantastic, highly recommended. - It was really nice, Sonja is a really nice and nice woman. We cooked very tasty recipes and were also given recipes to make again at home. The atmosphere is very good and friendly, we were picked up and taken back to our hostel which is very convenient. The location is fantastic, Sonja has a beautiful garden where she grows all kinds of things. We could taste the cherries from the tree, delicious. We made four recipes, all of which were super tasty. We also received Rakija, Turkish coffee, homemade elderflower lemonade and red wine. Highly recommended, the house is very cute (the dog too), Sonja and her husband are super nice and you learn a lot about Macedonian cuisine!

Super easy to contact and they pick you up and drop you off. I can't wait to tell all my friends and family back in Australia about this!
