Fulfilling experience - We were pleasantly surprised at the time we had to create 3 pottery items with the wisdom and support of 2 patient instructors. The wheels are electric and easy to use. The instructors helped with centering if needed and gave advice on the various vessels people were working on. They’ll trim the pots and we can come back and glaze them, or they’ll finish and send them. We paid $15/piece. There was also tons of pottery to buy if desired. Great experience overall!

Great experience - My sister and I had a wonder trip to Ojai planned and we thought a pottery class would enhance our exposure to the Ojai vibe! It didn’t disappoint! We spent 2 hours with a wonderful instructor, Erin, and really enjoyed our experience. We each made 3 small pieces and got elbow deep in clay on the wheel. Its was fun, tactile, and gave us a great appreciation for talented artists who’ve mastered this art form. I highly recommend this opportunity to do something most people never have the opportunity to try.

Highly recommend, great for the whole family. - We had a great time at Firestick! Really talented staff and awesome to see the advanced work that they have on display and for sale as inspiration before the class. They were very hands on and helpful. Took the class with my six-year old who had a great time and loved learning about the pottery wheel. We used the option for staff to finish the pots and glaze them, and then they were shipped to us. They turned out even better than I expected, and it was like Christmas for my six-year old opening up the package when it arrived. Highly recommend. Thanks!

First time pottery throwers - First time experience throwing pottery. We were given five balls of clay and we tried to make a bowl each time but even with the help of our three instructors turns out as a first time potter making a bowl is more difficult than it looks.. Hilarity followed as clay spun out of control, but did end up with 2 cups.

best pottery class hands down - What an amazing place this is, my wife and I took a beginners pottery class and WOW we had the best time and we were so thankful for our teacher and how professional she was and easy to follow. when we finished left our work there and they fired them, glazed them and shipped them to us all at a very reasonable price. we'll be coming back again and again for sure....

Weekend Getaway - I shared a weekend away with my three daughters and this was one of the surprises I’d planned. The girls were excited when we showed up for the class. We had a great time, learned a lot, and can’t wait to pick up our finished pieces. We also gained a new appreciation for pottery and the artists who create it. Thanks for some great memories!

Okay experience for an expensive price - We had never done pottery and thought to make it a day to visit Ojai and take a tour and pottery class. We took our boys and the class was fun. The $65 per person fee is a little pricey and you don't get to keep your items unless you pay extra, $15 per item.
The experience would have been much better if the fee included 1 piece you can take home. We ended up paying $80 per person ($320 for 4 people) not including shipping costs yet.
Another suggestion is to have the teachers show us how to make each piece and we would work along with them. Similar to paint with a teacher step by step and you take your art home. Having us create our own pieces when we don’t know pottery was not an effective use of time. The teachers should pick 5 pieces to teach the different techniques. We all make the same 5 pieces along with the teachers. Should there be more experienced participants they can veer off and make the pieces they want.
Don’t have high expectations for the tour, it was less than average. It lasted about 10-15 minutes around the ground which is small. We were expecting a huge pottery school and tour, but that wasn’t it. Nonetheless it was a good walk around.

Horrible Customer Service, Care and/or Concern - My mother has terminal messtastic breast cancer, throughout her bones etc. Was looking for things to do. Since she using a wheelchair, I thought this might be something new she could enjoy on our trip to Solvang. Later realized the place isn’t ADA compliant-not wheelchair accessible and she probably wouldn’t be able to do it. When I realized this, it was the night before (bought it on line late the night before seeing the lack of accessibility (not even 24 hours later) they were closed. Called first thing in the morning. Spoke to a nice woman who said the office to do refunds didn’t open until 10 and made is sound like I would be refunded. I apologized 2x taking responsibility for my part in this (ordering late, getting off work after they closed thereby missing the “cancellation window-in part because I bought the tickets late at night, the night before. Anyway, she voiced understanding etc and said I would get an email when the office opened and processed my request she submitted. Instead got not ONE but TWO “sorry denied your request” emails. I responded to the first explaining my part in this, apologizing again and said I didn’t originally see the very bottom of the web page saying no wheel chair accessibility, not for people with this limitation or that one etc. That’s when I got the second email that says they reviewed everything and “refund denied.” So, I figured I had to eat the $130. Ok with it because it was my fault I ordered late at night, worked the whole next day and not u til home, excitedly reviewing location, hours etc so we could leave in the morning, that I realized the problem. Why I am leaving this negative review however is because i didn’t just blow off the event and choose not to go or forget or whatever. There page said “wheel chair” inaccessible. That’s a then problem. Yes, I didn’t see it. That’s important info. Maybe that should be a disclaimer before payment is accepted??
