- Bagan - At 8 AM, meet and greet with a professional licensed tour guide and driver at the hotel. Begin the day’s highlights with a private air-conditioned vehicle to Nyaung Oo market, a vibrant and colorful market where local vendors from nearby villages sell fresh vegetables, fish, meats, local goods, and handmade products. Experience the morning serenity by visiting the magnificent Shwezigone Pagoda, constructed by King Anawrahtar, and delve into 11 centuries of rich history, ancient architecture, and Buddhist traditions. Continue to Kyansithar Umin, where the narrow, dark corridors of this meditation monastery are adorned with murals depicting Mongol invaders who conquered Bagan after 1287. Visit Htilominlo Temple, originally covered with white stucco, featuring depictions of ogresses and mythical creatures like Makara sea creatures. Proceed to Ananda Temple, the finest, largest, best-preserved, and most revered of the Bagan temples, built by King Kyansitthar. In the afternoon, explore Myinkaba Gu Byauk Gyi Temple, renowned for its well-preserved frescoes on the interior walls, the oldest original paintings in Bagan. Then visit Manuha Temple, a donation from the dethroned King Manuha, who was captured by King Anawrahtar. King Manuha designed the temple to house four immense Buddha images, too large for their enclosures, symbolizing the stress and discomfort the ‘captive king’ endured. Proceed to Myinkaba lacquerware village to observe the stages of manufacturing decorative objects coated with shiny lacquer. In the late afternoon, enjoy a unique experience by riding a horse-cart to Min Nan Thu village and Paya Thonzu, known for its 13th-century mural paintings, and continue to Dhamayangyi Temple, the largest structure in Bagan, built by King Narathu. Conclude the day with a wonderful sunset on a private wooden boat along the Ayeyarwaddy River. Return to the hotel.
