- Nyaung U Market - Guests will meet their English-speaking guide for the morning at their hotel in Bagan right after breakfast. Mornings are undoubtedly the best time to experience the true essence of life around Bagan.
The first stop is the vibrant Nyaung Oo market, just a short drive from Bagan. On market days, locals and traders from the region gather to purchase fresh ingredients, household goods, and clothing. Visitors can freely explore the partially covered market, take photos, and observe the daily lives of the locals.
- Pinlon Cheroot Factory - Leaving the horse-drawn carriage behind, guests will hop into a trishaw (bicycle taxi), a popular mode of transport in town. The destination is a cheroot factory, where skilled cigar makers demonstrate their expertise in rolling the perfect Burmese cigar. Visitors might even try their hand at it, surrounded by the aroma of cheroot filling the workspace.
- Nyaung-U - In Myanmar, becoming a monk brings status to the family, and from a young age, boys are taught to follow in the footsteps of the Lord Buddha, often spending their lives in a monastery. Monks in Nyaung Oo and other towns in Myanmar often have social responsibilities, such as leading mantras of good fortune during weddings and cremations. Life in a monastery involves rules, regulations, and moments of serenity in the pursuit of nirvana.
By the end of the morning, this spiritual encounter with the saffron-clad residents in their ‘home’ will provide insight into the monastic life of a monk or novice.
Before their final meal of the day, guests will return to their Bagan-based hotel by horse-drawn carriage, concluding an insightful experience of local Bagan.
