Join me as I explore the “Benagil to Marinha: Scenic 7 Valleys Trail Walk” with my kids. Discover breathtaking views, unique rock formations, and a family-friendly adventure along Portugal’s stunning coastline.
Setting Off on a Family Adventure
As a travel writer and a mother of three, I am always on the lookout for family-friendly adventures that offer both fun and learning opportunities. The “Benagil to Marinha: Scenic 7 Valleys Trail Walk” seemed like the perfect blend of nature, history, and relaxation. Starting from Olhão, we embarked on this journey with excitement and curiosity.
The day began with a comfortable van ride from Olhão to Benagil. The kids were thrilled to see the landscape change as we approached the coast. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable, sharing interesting tidbits about the region’s history and geology. This was a great way to keep the kids engaged and set the tone for the adventure ahead.
Upon arrival at Benagil, we were greeted by the stunning views of the cliffs and the ocean. The trail promised a scenic walk, and it did not disappoint. The kids were eager to explore, and I was glad to see them so enthusiastic about nature. The trail was well-marked and safe, making it an ideal choice for families with children.
Exploring the Seven Hanging Valleys
The walk along the Seven Hanging Valleys was nothing short of breathtaking. Each turn revealed a new vista, with cliffs plunging into the azure sea and unique rock formations that sparked the imagination. The famous Titanic and heart-shaped rocks were a hit with the kids, who loved taking photos and coming up with stories about how they were formed.
Our guide made sure to stop at key points, allowing us to take in the views and learn more about the area’s natural history. The top of Benagil beach and the Benagil cave were highlights, offering panoramic views that were simply unforgettable. The kids were fascinated by the cave’s formation and enjoyed the opportunity to learn outside the classroom.
The trail was a manageable length, and the pace was perfect for families. We had plenty of time to enjoy the scenery, take photos, and even have a little picnic along the way. It was a wonderful opportunity to bond as a family and appreciate the beauty of nature together.
Relaxing at Praia da Marinha
After the invigorating walk, we arrived at Praia da Marinha, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The kids couldn’t wait to dive into the clear waters, and I was happy to relax under the parasols provided. The beach was pristine, and the snorkeling opportunities were fantastic.
We spent a couple of hours enjoying the sun and sea, with the kids exploring the underwater world with their snorkeling masks. It was a joy to see them so engaged and excited, discovering the marine life and playing in the gentle waves.
Our adventure concluded with a visit to the Senhora da Rocha chapel, perched on a cliff with stunning views of the surrounding landscape. It was a peaceful and reflective end to a day filled with exploration and fun. As we returned to Olhão, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the memories we had created together.
This trail walk was a perfect family outing, combining adventure, education, and relaxation. It’s an experience I would highly recommend to any family looking to explore the natural beauty of Portugal’s coastline. Benagil to Marinha Walk
