- 1376 State Highway 29 - • Duration: 1.5 - 2 hours on Class 5 White Water • Availability: 26 days Sundays per year available over summer • Times: One trip per day at 9.30am • Transport: Self drive is recommended or Free transport from Rotorua can be provided. We will pick you up from your accommodation at 8:30am in Rotorua, and you will return by 2pm. • What to bring: Sense of adventure, swimwear & a towel. • What we provide: Custom built rafts, wetsuits, helmets, lifejackets, paddles, fleece tops, wetsuit booties and splash jackets. • Location: The river is located just outside Tauranga at - 1376 State Highway 29, 20 minutes drive from Tauranga or 1 hour drive from Rotorua. • Conditions: 13+ years only. • Also please note – This is an exciting GRADE 5 RAFTING EXPERIENCE and is NOT SUITED FOR OLDER OR BIGGER PEOPLE, or people that aren’t comfortable in the water. We have a weight limit of 120 kgs.

Engage in a thrilling rafting journey on the powerful Wairoa River, an experience that promises to be memorable! The Grade 5 Wairoa River near Tauranga is famous for its superb white water activities in New Zealand.
Kaituna Cascades takes you through the entire span of the river, including the lower three rapids and the waterfall!
Brace yourself as you navigate ‘Mothers Nightmare’, a technically challenging grade 4+ rock garden that concludes with an engaging 2 meter waterfall.
Dare to ride ‘The Rollercoaster’ - a long, bountiful staircase of fantastic white water bound to elicit laughter from even the sternest individuals!
Experience the exhilaration of ‘The Waterfall’, with its thrilling 3 meter plunge into a swirling pool of white water. Afterwards, relax and relish the subsequent 4km of entertaining grade 3/4 rapids and waterfalls as you navigate through the rock canyon laden with boulders on the Wairoa River - the adventure concludes with an enticing 5 meter cliff jump for those daring enough.

Haaaayeeeeeeehhhh!! - It is the best experience ever. The team made our experience more entertaining and fun, and most importantly safe. They give us gears to wear to keep us warm. They provide outstanding instructions of the what to do. They also provided a pick up and drop off from our accommodation. Most importantly, we had lots of fun, and a surge of adrenaline rush 💖 will definitely come back next time.

Awesome experience - Such an awesome experience. Was pretty intense but well worth it! Guides were good fun and experienced, they had a thorough safety briefing which made us feel very safe

Must-Try! - The best out there, a must-try experience! Very well managed and focus on safety has to be the highlight throughout the entire duration.

First time white water rafting - will do it again! - As a family of four, including two teenagers, it was our first time white water rafting and I was very nervous about it. The guides and instructors were very professional, very organised, capable, and confident. I was put at ease and the whole process was easy. Instructions were easy to follow, and we practised on land, before we got onto the river. We had an absolute blast, and even swam down a rapid later on after the three waterfalls. It was really beautiful too, when we weren't concentrating on negotiating rapids, and paddling over waterfalls. I would highly recommend this company and this trip, and would definitely do it again!

RIDING THE BULL! - I am 13 and I was terrified leading up to the tour. Ollie the guide, made me feel comfortable. I’m so glad I went through with it because it was one of the BEST EXPERIENCES EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Awesome rafting on the Wairoa!!! - Researched the different places to raft in New Zealand before deciding on this one and it did not disappoint!! Definitely one of the best places to raft. We felt very fortunate to be able to raft this river as it is only available 26 days each year. The rapid is very technical so lots of instructions from our guides (draw, back paddle, jump left/right, hold on, get down) and lots 2-3M waterfalls. Because it is not rafted too often you never know what is going to happen…we went down one rapid backwards and got stuck once or twice but our awesome raft guides Ollie and Cole were under control and kept us safe. Exciting and technically challenging this trip kept a huge smile on my face the whole way down the river!

Would recommend this company to anyone - Brilliant. Would highly recommend this company. The staff were fun, safety conscious and experienced. Beautiful trip on the river. Stunning even on a rainy day like we went. In fact the water was warm.
