Sélestat was first mentioned in the 8th century. As a free city of the Holy Empire and a member of the Decapolis, Sélestat flourished rapidly at the end of the Middle Ages and during the Renaissance, becoming a hub of humanism. It was the third-largest city in Alsace, featuring a port on the Ill and surrounded by ramparts. However, it faced challenges during the Reformation, the Peasants’ War, and the Thirty Years’ War, after which it became part of France.
- Bergheim - Bergheim is situated in the canton of Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines, 17 km north of Colmar and 10 km southwest of Sélestat, in the hilly area of the Alsace plain, between Ribeauvillé, Saint-Hippolyte, and Thannenkirch, approximately two kilometers from the Vosges mountains, known for their steep eastern slopes.
- Chateau du Haut Koenigsbourg - Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle, also known as Haut-Koenigsbourg, is a medieval fortress located in the commune of Orschwiller in the Bas-Rhin department of Alsace, France.
