A Highlight of Costa Rica - Confession. The Bug Lady Tour was the reason we came to Drake Bay (all the way from San Jose), and we were not disappointed! Tracie and Gian were incredibly knowledgeable and obviously have a deep love and respect for the creatures they study. Highly recommended, especially for those seeking a deeper connection with our natural world- old kids and young kids alike!

We booked the night tour... - We booked the night tour for the day we arrived in Drake Bay and it was the perfect introduction to the forest. Groups are reasonably small (8 people, max) meaning that everyone has the opportunity to see everything and ask questions. Tracie and Gianfranco’s enthusiasm about creatures great and small is contagious – we learned a great deal and have a greater appreciation of the role insects and arachnids play in the forest. Their knowledge is vast, and they are eager to share it.

FAR exceeded our expectations… so many cute mammals! - Tracie and Gianfranco were wonderful guides and so knowledgeable! We saw a kinkajou, a woolly opossum, a 3-toed sloth and a tamandua! I was thinking it would be mostly insects, amphibians and reptiles (which we also saw), but to see so many mammals was such a treat! We saw so many species that we had been hoping to see during our entire trip and they managed to locate them on a trail we had hiked the previous day with no sign of these incredible creatures! They did a great job of explaining the life histories of the creatures we encountered and Gianfranco had a great set up with a spotting scope attached to his iPad for easy viewing by the entire group! I would HIGHLY recommend this tour and would be likely to book it again on a future trip! Every night is a different adventure, but I know Tracie and Gianfranco will make it an incredible experience!

Unique experience - Walking with two biologist in one of the most biodiverse places is a unique experience and you can learn a lot from it. The tour takes almost 3 hours and it is worth every minute. Own flashlight and closed shoes are required eventhough the hike is easy and mostly on a paved trail.

Incredible creatures - I'd heard the rave reviews about this tour and it exceeded expectations. The tour is led by very experienced biologists so the level of detail you get is great. It's amazing what fascinating animals they can find in such a small plot of land. The creatures we saw were mindblowing. By this point in my trip, I'd done many tours and this was definitely one of the best.

Fascinating night tour! - Tracie and Gianfranco were awesome tour guides. They are passionate and full of interesting info about all of the creatures they spotted. Nothing is guaranteed since these are all wild animals/bugs, but they are great at spotting them and have gotten to know some of the regulars! We saw a variety of bugs, frogs, and mammals including a Kinkajou. Would definitely recommend, and maybe your perception of spiders will change :)

Fascinating and Fun Tour - Best tour of our 3 week trip! So educational, interesting and fun. We also really appreciated the concern for our safety as well as the quick pace of the tour-- while one guide was explaining the "find," the other guide was off locating another critter to view. Tracie and Gian both have such reverance and respect for the bugs, spiders, snakes and frogs that you too will see the creatures in a new light.

Excellent tour by knowledgeable experts - Tracie and Gian's knowledge is second to none. If you get the chance do go on this tour. They both make you feel very welcomed and are extremely personable and kind. Many species seen and everything explained in great details. The only things is the heat and humidity. Don't underestimate this and take water with you.

My favorite night tour in Drake Bay - The Night Tour with Tracie and Gianfranco was easily the best value of any tour I did while on the Osa Peninsula. I learned and saw so much, and not just insects either! Would happily take this tour again should I find myself in Drake Bay. Being able to see things I've only seen before in nature documentaries made it extra special. Make sure you bring appropriate footwear and a headlamp!
