Nara Park is an urban park situated at the base of Mt. Wakakusa in Nara City, home to notable sites such as Todaiji Temple and Kasuga Taisha Shrine. It is a must-visit when in Nara. Wakakusa, located near the park, offers a splendid view of Nara, and traditional events like “Wakakusa Burning Mount.” are held here every January. A leisurely walk is the best way to explore the park. A large herd of deer resides here, and feeding these charming creatures is a major attraction for visitors. The deer are quite clever; if they spot deer senbei in tourists’ hands, they will approach, so be cautious of the herds that might knock you over.
