This workshop is perfect for those interested in learning the history, philosophy, and techniques of genuine Kintsugi. Unlike many simplified workshops that break intact plates and repair them with chemical adhesives, this experience emphasizes traditional methods and cultural significance.
We meticulously prepare chipped or cracked ceramics sourced from antique markets and restore them to the final stage beforehand. During the workshop, participants will complete the final process by applying natural lacquer and sprinkling 23K gold powder.
Your finished plate will be available for collection in 5–7 days, or we can arrange shipping for you. International shipping: ¥5,000 or Domestic shipping within Japan: Free, excluding Hokkaido and Okinawa.
If you wish to take your plate home on the same day, please inform us in advance. Substitute materials that are not food safe may be used, although curing still requires at least one day.

In this 1.5-2 hour session, participants will:
- Discover the history of Kintsugi and Japanese lacquer
- Grasp the philosophy and traditional repair techniques
- Experience the final step of genuine Kintsugi using 23K gold powder
- Craft a personal Kintsugi plate
- Enjoy matcha as a refreshment.
The workshop is held in a traditional Japanese storehouse known as a Kura.
