Great guide, great tour - We met your gorgeous guide at the really busy street in Osaka and were immediately taken into a world of colour and tastes.
Dannie shared her experiences of living in Osaka and told stories relating to things we saw all over the area, explaining the cultural significance of the temples, logos and various other images around. We tasted soo many foods- we weren’t huge fans of the octopus balls or the pickled fish but our feeling is you need to do it at least once, after all it’s all about the Japanese way of life! Otherwise you’d stay at home! Would really reconnect this tout.

Amazing Market Food Tour - We had a WONDERFUL tour guide, but I cannot remember his name! The tour was so informative not only of the background of Osaka’s food culture, but he also told us so many things about Japanese culture, language and the history of Osaka. The food was delicious and we were stuffed by the end. Our guide did absolutely incredible, and went above and beyond in making it worth the price. I highly recommend Arigato for the market tour in Osaka, it was amazing and we will definitely be using them in the future.

Flavor explosions! - My wife and I were lucky and ended up with a private tour with Ayaka. Because our tour was on a Sunday, the sushi location she usually goes to wasn't open yet. Nevertheless, we started out with the seafood topped okonomiyaki. While we were waiting for it, she went over Japanese table manners and base flavors. Also sampled baby octopus, grilled squid, grilled scallops, Kobe beef, sashimi, and dessert. Saw bonito flakes, fugu/pufferfish (wasn't brave enough to try) as well. Finished up in the kitchen market area - knives, cookware, uniforms galore! Very informative, memorable, and tasty! We had such a great experience that time passed so quickly - sad that it was over. Arigato to Arigato Food Tours and to Ayaka.

Osaka Soul Food Tour - We had a fantastic night food tour in Dotonbori with our guide Yoko. We sampled food at four different venues during the tour ... even the Takoyaki which has featured in the Michelin Guide! Yoko was a delightful and knowledgeable guide who gave us insight into the food, history and culture of the area. We had the opportunity to taste some of Osaka's best loved dishes and local brew. We would recommend this tour to other visitors to Osaka, it was a fantastic start of our trip to Japan.

Fun food tour! - We spent a fantastic morning with our guide Ayaka taking us around Kuromon market for 3 hours, this was one of the highlights of our trip. Ayaka was a fun and very knowledgeable guide providing insights on food, culture and history, she also took the time to find out what we wanted to sample, and steered us through the very busy crowds to get to the best stalls and restaurants that we would not have discovered otherwise. The food was delicious ranging across sashimi, kobe beef, okonomiyaki, scallops in butter, pufferfish and various sweets and fruit. We then went onto the kitchen market which was a great place for shopping. We loved the tour and really recommend this as a wonderful experience and introduction to food and culture of Osaka.

Like hanging out with friends - amazing evening! - We did an evening in Osaka with Sarah and Ann in October. It was a highlight of our trip and we felt like we got an insight to Japan and what it is like to be able to order from restaurants with no English menu's and dine with locals. They arranged a perfect evening, great selection of food to try. It was like we were just hanging out with friends. Sarah was nice enough to help us at the train station that evening, since we were having so much fun we missed our train to Kyoto....thanks to you both, Sarah and Ann for a terrific evening and sharing your experiences living in Japan. A treat for all the senses - We joined the night food tour of Osaka as part of a three week family trip to Japan and it was one of our favourite experiences. Gabi and Sarah were fun and friendly and kept our group well fed, even when that group contained a vegetarian, two teenagers and a 10 year old. We visited lots of food stalls and restaurants that we would otherwise never have ventured into as tourists, (who don't speak Japanese), but our guides talked us through their recommendations and supplied us with a feast, as well as local stories of the neighbourhood and suggestions for things to try during our stay. We loved our food tour and highly recommend this company and especially Gabi and Sarah for their expertise. Lots of delicious food, a great way to feel like a local and well worth booking!

Do not recommend Osaka Market Tour on Sundays...poor value - We did a Sunday morning market food tour in Osaka. The company was easy to communicate with and responsive with planning/logistics. However, we were disappointed in the tour after reading so many great reviews of the company. The guide (while very nice and knowledgeable when asked questions) told us several times that on Sundays things are hit and miss because many of the stalls are closed - so then why offer a tour on this day/time? The tour just didn't feel like it had a lot to offer - our guide was continuously looking for ways to fill time and/or having us wait around until lunch. Given the amount of time wasted and amount charged for the tour ($300+ USD) it felt very overpriced for a lackluster experience.
