Osaka Castle boasts a rich history, originating from the Osaka Honganji Temple (Ishiyama Honganji) during the Warring States period. It witnessed the Ishiyama Battle against Oda Nobunaga, was constructed by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, fell during the Siege of Osaka, was reconstructed by the Tokugawa shogunate, suffered destruction by fire during the Meiji Restoration, and underwent post-war park development. It remains deeply intertwined with Japanese history to this day. The stone walls, moats, Otemon Gate, Tamon Yagura, Sengan Yagura, and other historical structures visible today date from the Tokugawa period onwards.
