• Dotombori District - Stroll through Dotonbori street, famous for its massive billboards and a plethora of restaurants and food stalls offering local delicacies like the renowned Takoyaki and Okonomiyaki.
• Shinsekai - Explore Shinsekai, the “New World,” featuring the Tsutenkaku, Osaka’s version of the Eiffel Tower, along with kushikatsu and Billiken, the God of wealth. Shinsekai also hosts Spa World, a vast bath complex with numerous pools on both European and Asian themed floors, enjoyed in a traditional, gender-separated manner.
• Osaka Castle - Osaka Castle stands as one of Japan’s most iconic landmarks. This five-story castle is a visually stunning masterpiece with a history spanning nearly 450 years.
• Minami (Namba) - Situated around Namba Station, Minami (南, “South”) is one of Osaka’s two primary city centers. Known as the city’s most popular entertainment district, it offers a wide array of dining and shopping options. The district is highly accessible, served by three train companies, three subway lines, and a highway bus terminal. The other major city center is Kita (北, “North”), located around Osaka and Umeda Stations.
• Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine - Sumiyoshi Taisha (住吉大社, “Sumiyoshi Grand Shrine”) in Osaka is one of Japan’s oldest shrines. Established in the 3rd century before Buddhism’s arrival, it showcases a unique shrine architecture style, Sumiyoshi-zukuri, uninfluenced by the Asian mainland. Only two other shrine architecture styles are considered purely Japanese: Shinmei-zukuri at the Ise Shrines and Taisha-zukuri at Izumo Taisha.
• Shitennoji - Shitennoji (四天王寺, Shitennōji) is among Japan’s oldest temples and the first to be state-built. Founded in 593 by Prince Shotoku, who championed Buddhism’s introduction to Japan, the temple’s buildings have been meticulously reconstructed over the centuries to maintain the original 6th-century design.

The outer temple grounds are free to enter, but there is a fee for the inner precinct, the Gokuraku-jodo Garden, and the treasure house. Within the pebble-covered courtyard of the inner precinct stands a five-storied pagoda that visitors can enter and ascend, along with the Main Hall (Kondo), where Prince Shotoku is enshrined as a statue of Kannon.

• Umeda Sky Building - The Umeda Sky Building (梅田スカイビル) is a remarkable skyscraper in Osaka’s Kita district, near Osaka and Umeda Stations, also known as the “New Umeda City.”

Standing 173 meters tall, the building comprises two towers connected by the “Floating Garden Observatory” on the 39th floor, offering stunning city views through its windows and from its open-air deck. The basement features a restaurant floor replicating a town from the early Showa Period, while offices occupy most other floors.

• Kuromon Market - Kuromon Market (黒門市場, Kuromon Ichiba) is a covered public market extending approximately 600 meters parallel to Sakaisujidori Street in Osaka’s Minami area. The market hosts around 150 shops, primarily selling fish, meat, and produce, along with traditional sweets and affordable clothing and homeware. Dating back to the Edo Period, it provides an atmospheric setting for shopping and sampling a variety of street foods.
• The National Museum of Art, Osaka - The National Museum of Art, Osaka (NMAO) is an underground museum featuring a significant art collection on Nakanoshima Island in central Osaka.
