- Oshino Hakkai - Oshino Hakkai consists of eight springs located in Oshino, Yamanashi, Japan. These springs are formed by the aquifer water from Mount Fuji surfacing. They are recognized as a Natural Monument of Japan and are part of the Mount Fuji World Heritage Site. Winter provides a breathtaking view of the iconic mountain, particularly the “Diamond Fuji” phenomenon. This occurs when the rising or setting sun aligns perfectly with the peak of Mt. Fuji, creating a stunning visual effect. This phenomenon is visible only from specific locations due to the Earth’s position.
A small open-air museum, the Hannoki Bayashi Shiryokan, surrounds the largest pond, and a nominal admission fee is required. The water in the Waku Pond is exceptionally clear and clean, and visitors are encouraged to drink it and even take some home in a bottle. It’s an excellent place to purchase gifts and souvenirs, and the street food is delightful.

Mt. Fuji 5th Station - This is the highest point on Mt. Fuji (2200m) accessible by car, making it an interesting spot for hikers. It offers the closest view of the summit of Mt. Fuji. Visitors can enjoy a splendid view of the city from the viewpoints. The station is reached via the Fuji Subaru Line, a scenic toll road on Mount Fuji’s lower northern slopes, starting in Fujikawaguchiko Town. The toll road costs 2100 yen and may be partially closed in winter due to heavy snow. Additionally, the road is closed to private vehicles during most of the climbing season (July 5 to September 10, 2024), with shuttle buses operating between designated parking lots at the mountain’s base and the 5th station.

Lake Kawaguchiko - Lake Kawaguchi is the second largest of the Mt. Fuji five lakes, offering a beautiful view of Mt. Fuji. The Kachi Kachi Ropeway ascends to an observation point near the summit of Mount Tenjo, providing views of Lake Kawaguchiko and Mount Fuji. There are also many hot springs in the area where visitors can relax.

Oishi Park - Oishi Park is a public park located on the north shore of Lake Kawaguchi. From the park, visitors can enjoy a stunning view of Mt. Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi. The park features a 350m walking path lined with various flowers; from early April to late May, moss phlox flowers create a pink carpet, from late June to late July, beautiful lavender blooms, and from mid to late October, the kokia shrubs display their vibrant red autumn colors. The contrast between the flowers and Mt. Fuji is spectacular. The park also houses the Kawaguchiko Natural Living Center, where visitors can make fruit jam and enjoy an all-you-can-eat cherry and blueberry picking course. The café offers specialty blueberry ice cream.

Arakurayama Sengen Park - This is a peace memorial park featuring Shinto shrines and 398 steps leading to breathtaking views of Mt. Fuji at various elevations. The Chureito Pagoda at the top was built in memory of soldiers and civilians who lost their lives in World War I and II. It is famous for viewing and photographing the majestic Mt. Fuji from the observatory deck.
