A Warm Welcome to Gacka Valley

Our family adventure in Croatia began with a warm welcome from Karlo, our guide for the day. As we arrived in the picturesque Gacka Valley, Karlo greeted us with a friendly smile and offered us a refreshing homemade juice. It was a delightful start to our day, setting the tone for the exciting exploration ahead. Karlo’s hospitality extended to offering us homemade rum, a gesture that added a personal touch to our experience.

The weather was slightly overcast, but Karlo was prepared. He kindly offered us camouflage jackets from Denis, the owner, ensuring we stayed warm and comfortable. This thoughtful gesture was much appreciated, especially by our children, who were eager to embark on the adventure.

Kayaking on the Trout River

Our first activity was kayaking on the serene Trout River. The see-through kayaks provided a unique perspective, allowing us to admire the clear waters beneath us. The river was calm, offering a peaceful and immersive experience. As we paddled along, we marveled at the natural beauty surrounding us, a perfect blend of tranquility and adventure.

Karlo’s knowledge of the area was impressive. He shared fascinating insights about the river’s history and its significance to the local community. Our children were captivated by his stories, making the experience both educational and entertaining. After our paddle session, Karlo recommended a nearby bistro called Ribic, where we enjoyed a delicious meal that was both satisfying and reasonably priced.

Thrilling Quad Safari Adventure

In the afternoon, we geared up for the highlight of our trip: the quad safari tour. Karlo provided us with protective trousers and guided us through the basics of riding the quads. As a first-timer, I was initially apprehensive, but Karlo’s patience and expertise quickly put me at ease.

The quad safari took us through the charming village and along the scenic Gacka River. We tasted natural spring water and learned about the area’s rich history from Karlo, whose passion for the region was evident. The ride was exhilarating, offering an adrenaline rush that left us all eager for more.

Our children, especially, were thrilled by the adventure, and it was heartening to see their excitement. The day concluded with a warm farewell from Denis, the owner, who ensured we had a memorable experience.
