A Rocky Start, But Worth Every Moment

Our adventure began with a bit of a hiccup. I had booked the Canyoning Adventure for a Sunday, and while the reservation confirmation came through immediately, the details about the meeting point and time were missing. As a seasoned traveler, I know these things can happen, so I wasn’t too worried. However, by Saturday, with no further information, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I headed to the address listed in the shopping center Neptuno, hoping to sort things out in person. To my surprise, there was no office there. It turns out the company was in the process of moving to a new location.

Undeterred, I tried reaching out by phone and managed to get in touch with the owner’s wife. Our conversation was a mix of broken English and my limited Spanish, but we managed to communicate. Later that evening, Harry, our guide, contacted me via WhatsApp to finalize the meeting details. He explained that he had been in the canyon all day, where reception is non-existent. Despite the initial confusion, I was relieved and excited for the adventure ahead.

The Thrill of Canyoning

Sunday morning arrived, and we set off for the Sierra de Almijara Natural Park, a stunning backdrop for our canyoning adventure. The Rio Verde, with its turquoise waters and cascading waterfalls, was even more beautiful than I had imagined. Our group was small, just my family and me, which made the experience feel intimate and personalized.

Harry, our guide, was fantastic. He explained everything clearly, ensuring we felt safe and confident before each jump, slide, and rappel.
