  • Udong Mountain - We depart Phnom Penh for the former Cambodian capital of Udong on National Highway 5. The capital from 1618 to 1866, we explore the sacred hills here, which include historic pagodas and several stupas containing the remains of Cambodia’s former kings. There are panoramic views over the Cambodian countryside in every direction. After an extensive visit to this historic place, we return to the Cambodian capital.
  • Mekong River - In the late afternoon, we board a local boat for a sunset cruise on the river. We set off on the Tonle Sap River, which famously reverses direction each year, acting as the world’s largest natural flood barrier for the Mekong River. We cruise past the Royal Palace compound to the mighty Mekong River. We cruise past small villages and see fishing boats preparing their catch. We return hotel after dark.

Our journey takes us to Udong, the historical capital of Cambodia from 1618 to 1866. Panoramic views of the Cambodian landscape can be enjoyed from any viewpoint. After a comprehensive exploration of this historical region, we make our way back to the present-day Cambodian capital.
Later in the afternoon, we hop onto a local boat for an enchanting sunset river cruise. We embark onto the Tonle Sap River, famously known for its annual reversal of flow, serving as the globe’s largest natural flood barrier for the Mekong River. As we navigate, we drift past the Royal Palace complex, leading us into the robust Mekong River. We witness quaint villages and watch as fishing boats gather their haul. After nightfall, we return to Phnom Penh.
