A Journey Through Time: Day 1 in Ouirgane

Our family adventure began in the vibrant city of Marrakesh, where the bustling streets and colorful markets set the stage for our journey into the heart of Morocco. We left the city behind and traveled to Imi Oughlad, where we met our Berber guide and muleteer. The children were immediately fascinated by the mules, and it was a delight to see their excitement as they prepared for the trek.

The first day’s trek was a gentle introduction to the Ouirgane National Park. The landscape was a tapestry of copper-green soil and juniper trees, offering a serene backdrop for our walk. We spent the night in a traditional Gite, where the warmth of Berber hospitality enveloped us. The second day of our trek took us deeper into the heart of the Azzaden Valley. The path led us through lush walnut groves and alongside a rushing mountain stream, with the majestic peaks of Toubkal in the distance. The scenery was breathtaking, and the kids were thrilled to spot various birds and insects along the way.

We arrived at the village of Ait Aissa, where we spent the night in another welcoming Gite. The final day of our trek was a thrilling climb out of the Azzaden Valley. We ascended towards the pass at Tizi n Mzik, where the panoramic views were nothing short of spectacular. The children, though tired, were proud of their accomplishment and marveled at the landscape stretching out before them.

Descending into the Imlil Valley, we were greeted by the vibrant colors and bustling life of the village. After a delicious lunch, we returned to Marrakesh, our hearts full of the experiences and memories we had gathered. The trek was not only an adventure but a journey into the rich tapestry of Berber culture and the stunning natural beauty of Morocco.
