Best - I was still half-asleep when the soft knock came on my Riad door in Marrakech. The air outside was cool and smelled faintly of baking bread from a nearby bakery. Our driver, Hicham, greeted me with a warm smile, and soon I was in the minibus, curling through the streets as the city yawned awake.
The drive was almost hypnotic — olive trees lined the road, their silver leaves flickering in the morning sun. Villages passed in earthy shades of terracotta and beige, with the Atlas foothills hazy in the distance. My guide for the day, Karima, shared stories about her childhood here, her voice weaving with the rhythmic hum of the engine.
After nearly three hours, we reached the trailhead. The air felt different — fresher, cooler, laced with the scent of damp earth. The 1.5-hour hike down was peaceful, broken only by birdsong and the chatter of Barbary macaque monkeys darting between branches. One bold little guy perched on a rock right next to me, tilting his head as if to pose for a photo. I couldn’t help laughing.
Halfway down, we stopped for a traditional lunch: steaming tajine with tender chicken, olives, and preserved lemon, served with warm bread and the sweet aroma of mint tea. The flavors were simple but deep, and I felt completely present in the moment.
Then came the boat ride — slipping under the roaring curtain of the Ouzoud Waterfalls. The mist clung to my skin and hair, the sound so powerful it drowned out everything else. For a few seconds, I just stared upward, feeling impossibly small beneath the sheer force of nature. It was both thrilling and humbling.
At the base, some travelers took a swim while I sat on a sun-warmed rock, letting my feet dangle in the cool water. The climb back up was slower, my legs protesting but my eyes constantly drawn to the panoramas — rainbows in the spray, cliffs glowing in the afternoon light. As we reached the top, the call to prayer drifted across the valley, mingling with the waterfall’s rumble. It was… grounding, almost spiritual.
The ride back to Marrakech was quiet, the kind of silence that comes from a day well-spent. Watching the sun sink behind the olive groves, I realized this wasn’t just a sightseeing tour — it was a memory I’d keep close.

Mist, Monkeys & Magic at Ouzoud - I shall never forget the initial view of Ouzoud — a glistening veil of water cascading into a green valley, the noise so thunderous it sounded like the earth breathing. But the day began much sooner, with Mohamed, our driver, waiting for me outside my riad in Marrakech shortly after dawn. The streets were still tranquil, and the crisp morning breeze held the faint aroma of freshly baked bread.
The drive took about three hours, winding past dusty little villages, endless rows of olive trees, and the hazy outline of the Atlas foothills. Abdo, our guide, had this calm, friendly way of telling stories about the Berber people and the land we were passing. At one point we stopped for a glass of mint tea — fresh, sweet, and fragrant — before continuing towards the falls.
The hike down took about an hour and a half, and I loved every minute. The path snaked past bright red cliffs and terraces of olive groves. Monkeys appeared out of nowhere, playful and completely unbothered by us. One even hopped onto a branch just a foot away from me, tilting his head as if he wanted a photo. The air smelled of damp earth and wild herbs, and in the distance, I could already hear the waterfall’s roar.
At the bottom, we had a simple but delicious lunch: a steaming vegetable tajine with warm bread. Then came my favourite part — the little boat ride that took us right under the massive drop. The spray hit my face like cool rain, the water thundering above so loudly I couldn’t even hear my own laugh. It was pure, wild joy.
Some people went for a swim, but I just sat near the rocks, letting the mist settle on my skin and listening to the call to prayer echo faintly across the valley. It felt… grounding, like time had slowed.
The ascent down was slower, but the sight was breathtaking — the valley unfolded below in waves of rust-red and green, speckled with small figures trudging along the trails. By the time we were at the top, the sun was beginning to set, bathing everything in gold.
On the return ride to Marrakech, I realized that this ouzoud waterfalls day trip from marrakech had been more than just sightseeing — it was a reminder of how tiny and fortunate we are to get to see things like that.

Visiting - Visiting the Ouzoud Waterfalls was an unforgettable experience! The journey from Marrakech was smooth, and the scenic drive alone was worth it. Upon arrival, the breathtaking view of the cascading falls surrounded by lush greenery instantly captivated me. The boat ride near the base of the waterfall was thrilling, and feeling the cool mist on my face was refreshing in the summer heat. Our guide was knowledgeable and shared interesting local stories, making the trip even more engaging. We also spotted playful monkeys, which added charm to the visit. Highly recommend this day trip for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts

Amazing Ouzoud Waterfalls Tour with a Knowledgeable Guide - During our two weeks in Marrakech at the start of December, we went to the Ouzoud waterfalls with excursions from Marrakesh Travel Services. Thanks to Hicham, our guide, we had an amazing day. Hicham knows all of the local sights that we might otherwise overlook, as well as the neighborhood and its inhabitants. Strongly advised.

good trip m - Our amazing guides, Nourddin and Achraf, as well as the enchanted boat ride, made our trip to Marrakesh and the Ouzoud Waterfalls quite unforgettable. Hicham and Abdo were informed, amiable, and focused, offering insightful commentary on the local way of life and the stunning landscape. They went above and beyond to make sure we had a blast, even capturing stunning group shots that we will always treasure. The trip's high point was the boat ride close to the tumbling waterfalls; it was thrilling to be that close to the falls and offered breathtaking photo ops. This was the ideal excursion because of the natural beauty and the well-planned experience. Strongly advised for anyone traveling to Morocco!

I enjoyed my day at Waterfalls - I enjoyed my day at the Waterfalls. Everything went smoothly, including the drive. The day was lovely. Our guide, Nourddin, spent time explaining the waterfall's natural features and other details. He allowed ample time for everyone to snap photos and explore the area. Suggest this journey.

A Refreshing Tour - The journey itself is scenic, passing through olive groves and Berber villages. Once you arrive, the sight of the towering cascades is breathtaking.
