Additional Information

This activity allows you to immerse yourself in the Oviedo local’s lifestyle for a day, by partaking in their beloved activities: strolling down a green walking trail, rejuvenating in a historical Spa, and relishing a traditional Asturian meal!

Your journey begins at the southern part of Oviedo, in Parque de Invierno. The trail traces an obsolete railway track, about which your tour guide shares intriguing facts during the walk. The pedestrian-only path commences in the park, but soon meanders into the serene Asturian countryside. You traverse aged railway tunnels and cross over Asturias’ most significant river, the Nalon. Along the trek, the guide provides in-depth insights about the natural environment, historical context, cultural significance, and culinary traditions of Asturias.

Post completion of a 10k stroll, you reach the Spa in Las Caldas. There, you relish 2.5 hours of indulgence in its warm waters and saunas. Following this, you partake in a delicious Menu del Dia (three-course meal) at one of the local eateries in the village. Afterwards, a private vehicle transports you back to Oviedo.

Hiking, history, and luxury! - We saved this experience for our last full day in Asturias after several days of enjoying company with family and friends. This trip was just for the two of us, an opportunity to relax ourselves as much as possible before the long trip home, and it did not disappoint! First and foremost, our guide, Debora, was a delight. She’s friendly, accommodating, outgoing and very knowledgable about the trail and the surrounding country leading from the Parque Invierno to Las Caldas, the posh 18th Century Spa. We thoroughly enjoyed chatting with and getting to know her through the morning and afternoon and we kept her contact information at the end of the day to possibly reconnect with her when we return to Spain in the future. Now, please note for those who don’t hike often. This was a three-hour walk. We left Parque Invierno at 9:30am and arrived at the doors of the spa just before 12:30pm. If you’re not used to walking long distances, you may want to limber up and do a little work on your fitness before making your reservation — the entire trail is paved and there’s no cross-country hiking, but it might still be a challenge, especially if your feet aren’t used to walking for that long! Now, once you get to Las Caldas, the luxury can begin. The staff is friendly, the facilities are marvelous and state-of-the-art while still respectful of the site’s long history. The steam room-cold bath-sauna experience was probably my favorite part, but the heated pools and the terrace for lounging and enjoying the view are also extraordinary. You’ll get two hours to enjoy it all — plenty of time. All in all, we loved our time on this experience. Highly recommend!
